Hi everybody.
I produce house music as a hobby and love disco. I'm looking for suggestions as to which disco tracks could be remixed or sampled into a dance tune.
I want to find things which aren't well known to the masses...I did start a remix sometime ago of This Time Baby by Jackie Moore, but was beaten to it by the freemasons.
Something with a catchy hook, like Cloud One's Disco Juice...again beaten to it by fatboy slim!
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks
none, if what you mean by remixing is layering a 909 beat over the top, some slack vocal samples and filtering the **** out of a disco loop. its been done to death, and im sick of it. edits are ok, if they are done correctly and not just for the "sake of the edit". it's abuse to the artist, and a lame way to gain status. write your own original house music, like paul simpson or blaze.
Not a fan of remixes then!
I think they are a good thing - if done well - as they introduce the original music to a new audience. Being too young for disco originally, I've discovered artists this way - people like Cheryl Lynn, Jackie Moore; having heard something of theirs sampled or remixed I've then sought out their other stuff. Which can only be a good thing!
Also, you could argue it keeps disco alive.....so if anybody else has got any suggestions....
"Emma"__ you better go on the house music forum for that question__ the Disco Zeitgeist will castigate you for such a profane question![]()
But__ may I suggest some original Herbie HancocK stuff__ go look up some early 70's Herbie__ also check out some Grover Washington stuff__ albums like,"Inner City Blues" , "Mister Magic"__ how bout' some classic Ramsey Lewis.
I would'nt touch the Disco stuff__ reasons are because disco songs have been sampled, looped, and copied for the last 15 years__ besides there is a growing trend all over to here classic disco :D __
