I'm not sure you got the point, E. Presumably, (correct me, Marcio, if I'm wrong), the question hidden behind the simple formulation lies mostly in the man's position as a possible next president of the U.S.A. (focus of hatred for many muslims), and current U.S. governor; and his very close ties to foreign land & islam (from his father's side, and places of upbringing).

His name doesn't necessarily offend me. But his diverse education and the fact his origins aren't totally rooted in America and judeo-christianity make me doubtful. That's so much more unfortunate that he seems to be a very valid contender, on many levels.

I beg to differ. Don't you think that someone like the honorable Senator Obama who was educated in an Islamic school during childhood and as an adult has volunteered in Chrisitian churches in Chicago would be perfect to mend the fence between the US and the Islamic nations?

The attitude among most people in US is counter-productive towards Islam. There's been troubling comments like "Can you imagine that we could have beneficial relationships with Islamic nations in 50 years like the US has with Japan 50 years after World War II."

Let's face it! Japan was sending suicide bombers into US ships and vowed to fight to the last man. I think were the root of the problem lies is that the US at the end of WWII had the last word when Truman dropped the A-bomb. The US wants foreign relations and free trade with the Islamic world but on US terms. It's too bad that the US doesn't apply this strategy unilaterally to China who we have a two decade long trade deficit with.
