Guys, you play the homophobe trick too often, believe me and it's a little boring at times.

I've been posting here for almost 3 years and for most of that time Gays have been dominant in numbers. I've put up with some real shit from you guys in that time, but I put it down to the fact that you're Gay and I'm not and despite all the love in the world, we shall never truly see eye to eye. We're just different to each other, that's all. Doesn't mean anything in particular to me 'cos it's not that difficult to get over and get on with things.

I enjoy a very hard political discussion from time to time and maybe some members won't like what I'm saying in those topics, but I'm honest about my thoughts and principles and I simply can't find myself in some very leftist views.

I don't usually have a problem with fellow members here, since I too believe in freedom of speech.

I also believe that members here are not what I call "commies", a hard word wich I usually aim at the politicians over here (Europe) who are simply distroying our economy and values. That's my opinion. If other members don't agree, so be it! I will never insult or avoid a member simply because he doesn't agree with me on a political note.

But...since a few months I have to read topics, posted by someone who regularly changes his nick (scaredy cat?), who is a blatant racist, who is blatant anti-gay and uses the forum only for spreading his extreme views and almost never ever posts something about Disco or Dancemusic.

What's next? I don't know because that one person is going so far and so extreme that I would expect anything from him.

"True facts about homosexuals" is a topic that crossed the line. If that "guest" doesn't like gay people, so be it, but he absolutely shouldn't be allowed to do it this way.

And if that sort of stuff continues, we can soon expect KKK-news, Aryan Nation-propaganda or topics about the crimes Belgians committed in the Congo from other "guests" and that's simply not the goal of this site. This site is about DISCO

I haven't been coming to this site long , but I finally got turntables once again and I'm excited about digging into these records of mine again and re exploring a very wonderful part of my life. It's like having a favorite friend return. And I am delighted that there is a group of folks that have convened here from all over the world no less to kick things around .
I'm also pleased that its a great mix of people , including the gay/straight thing and even the banter about it is fascinating because it is becoming clear to me that there was two different disco scenes going on at the same time ... and its fascinating to sort through it.
The debatable issues appear to get a little hot even when they are centered around disco but I think those are valid and productive .... and suit the purpose of this site. We are adults here and can handle disagreement....

But hopefully the point here is for people to converge to share an interest in a positive way .

This thread adds nothing to this community , it only disrupts. When the intent is to cause harm ...... it should go. This site has too much good energy to produce , to allow itself to be derailed ..especially by some outsider who only comes here with a spiteful agenda that is way off topic .

I can completely understand loosing interest in this site for the specified reasons.

Anyone who has an understanding of the oppression and hate gays have faced over the centuries can understand where these distorted statistics get their start. The hatred has always been very real and extreme--and these types of distorted facts illustrated are an excellent example of that; and sadly the oppression has always been so extreme, our self-esteem takes a toll...causing many to just feel safer in the closet. I'm not even going on one of my usual diatribes, because it's really not worth it. Statistics regarding gay culture can never be accurate because the majority of us are still in the closet---and the majority of people who arrange these statistics are bigoted, usually members of a Pat Robertson/Jerry Falwell organization. The fact is, straight men have always been far more prone to violence than gay men. In 30+ years every fight I've seen in a club involved straight men...or even straight women (Pipeline 1983). Bath Houses have all been shut down accross the country, and were an example of how society forced us underground. The vast majority of younger gay men have never been to a bath house.

As far as AIDS goes, back in the 80's during the Reagan/Bush Sr. era, the only activists promoting education were the gays; and the president and his cabinet dismissed it, this is why we have a global epidemic now. It has been well documented this disease came here from Africa, and of course, the gay community being a small microcosm would suffer the most with a disease that is spread in the fashion that it is. The rigorous efforts gays have put into marriage proves our committment to monogamy; which is not easy by any means when hetero society does everything in its power to discourage our committed relationships by every means necessary. It has made for an incredible escape goat by the Bush administration.
For many years now, gays who have been able to marry in northern Europe have the lowest incident of divorce.

I can't even spend a few nice days with visiting family members without having to babysit the forum. I log-in here yesterday and see bullshit posted from all sides, which is truly discouraging. Thankfully I took a day to cool down.

Paul said it best and has his head in the right place so I won't rehash, but I am more upset with some of the old time regulars who should know better like Marky. He and Barry conveniently leave out the fact that I stepped in on last year's anti-gay fiasco by locking ALL related topics to cool things down and that included Barry's. If he can't deal with that then perhaps it's best that he is gone. I'm not kissing anyone's ass. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Seems as if I can't please anyone here and I'm no longer going to try.
