| I saw this while it was still in the theatres and was a little disappointed. While it starts off being interesting (the temptation theme) it got a bit far fetched with the buildings collapsing and of course all the non-stop beatings. There was little that was left to be interpreted. "The Last Temptation of Christ" on the other hand was the only movie of its genre that really was thought provoking. It made Jesus appear more human showing him as a person who struggled with his inner thoughts and who was searching for his purpose in life. I liked it so much that I actually bought the laser disc years ago despite being a non-believer.

| Being it one of the most controversial movies of this year, I allready had my doubts about it. And in fact I left the theatre when the torturing begun. After a few minutes I really was disgusted and I simply had enough of it. This was completely over the top and I don't see why Gibson had to go that far. A GOOD director could have reached much more effect by creating an atmosphere where everybody could have been touched by the immense suffering without showing atrocity to the maximum, but instead, Mel chose to show everything to the extreme. No, I definitely won't buy or even rent that one. And as a footnote, there's allready enough religious violence in the world today so we absolutely don't need this kind of picture that has offended many people, Catholics AND Jews!! And I always wonder how some religious people can kill and hate and at the same time think that they are God's personal messenger. Shame  |

| I think The Passion is great trash on epic scale: after bits of flesh fly around during the excessive flogging marathon, The Christ is seen leaning against a wall, sitting upright. Any mortal would have perished after the first five minutes of the abuse. He then takes on the weight of the cross, and naturally stumbles and falls on his face, the cross hitting him in the head. Truly this is the son of God, as he simply gets up and carries on, only to fall again and to get right up again! The whole film is a hilarious bad taste journey into Mel's sick, obsessive hating mind. With images of deformed babies, standard Hollywood computer graphics demons straight of Disney's The Haunted Mansion, a painfully cliched scene of gentle domestic humour, plus a male model posing as Jesus, The Splatter Gospel according to Gibson is a bigger laugh than any comedy in recent memory. Rent it for all the wrong reasons! |

| This movie is shocking. However, it tries to stay away from the bucholic Hollywood image of Jesus, and relies its plot on the only source for info about this subject, the Bible. |
