In Europe, Chinese products are under major attack right now after the discovery of poisonous paint in children's clothing, toys, the refusal to sell the Brilliance automobiles who have the technology and safety of cars that were made in the Western world 20 years ago. The sweatshops, the unlicensed copying make it all very difficult to accept these traders in our countries.

The Videoskooter has done a tour in China as a part of a travelling carnival run by the Chinese. Let me tell you what those outlaws tried to do. They considered themselves owners of my track and stated that they so-called hired it from me and thus it was their property.

And now I'm NOT JOKING here: I first tried with lawyers but they couldn't get it done, the commies wouldn't return my track and asked for a big amount of money to buy it (can u believe those wankers: I should pay for my own property!!!). So I bought info on who was behind this and it turned out to be corrupt officials. So I went over there with the appropriate muscle, we took the trucks and moved them to the nearest harbour and guarded the spot. Then we "convinced" the crew of a cargoship and moved the convoy to Taiwan, a country where they have genuine laws. It was all done in 12 hrs and probably those wankers were small peanuts coz' they didn't dare to make a move on us! Their carnival was over, basta e finito!

So, please, don't come and tell me that I'm gonna prefer their work

BTW, the Videoskooter is in Kuala Lumpur right now and we don't have any problems there. But the Chinese....I don't even like their food!

Here in the U.S. we are having a huge backlash against Chinese made products. It's appalling what they are getting away with, but it's even more our fault for risking our welfare and our children's for low prices on crappy products. I'm genuinely in shock as to how much is made in China nowadays. Hardly anything is made in the U.S. anymore :-(

Doing business in foreign lands such as China where there are few laws is certainly not for the squeamish. Glad you were able to get your property back.

Ironically, Walmart used to tout being AMERICAN made 20 years ago. Now you'd be hard pressed to find anything there that wasn't made in China
Anyway, I now look more carefully at the labels and avoid "made in China."

BTW, the staff over there (we hired locals) were great and motivated boys/girls, no bad words about 'em! And the public was also cool, I think some of them drove a bumpercar for the first time and they sure were enjoying it!

Exactly. Anyone can blame the big corporations for outsourcing, but people tend to forget that the power is ultimately in the hands of the consumer. Boycott brands who outsource their manufacturing process, and insist on buying foods that contain no imported gluten, tomato paste, corn starch, various additives or chemicals, and you'll not only have a positive control over your health, but also the economy and employment rate, as well as, may I suggest, the crime rate (the guy who's working in a local factory all day is less likely to burglarize your home). As far as foods and drugs are concerned, no domestic company could afford to face the legal and financial responsibilities of knowingly incorporating the types of poisons the chinese do in their products.
Manufacturers tend to be pragmatic. If they lose sales to cheaper imports, they'll have to go cheaper too, usually by importing for less what they used to buy or produce domestically, or outright build a factory overseas, or south of the border. As long as the only negative effect to such actions is the thus unemployed domestic ex-workers' demonstrations, everything is for the best. But if those demonstrations were to be accompanied by a massive boycott of the company's products on the grounds of Joe Public's reaction to relocated production, their policy would obviously have to change. But that would mean patriotic militancy on the part of customers. Fat chance for that to happen for now, as being a patriot seems to mean to most, displaying an American flag sticker on the back window of their Toyota...

...and I'm afraid it's only the start. My late grandfather wouldn't have been caught dead in a foreign car, even a rental. All appliances in his home, his clothing etc. were US-made US brands (as long as those options were available). His attitude was quite common among his generation. I'm afraid I don't know anybody like him in more recent generations.... As long as production remains cheaper overseas, and country of manufacture is no longer a governing factor in consumers' choice, that trend will have no reason to reverse.
