Question Are You Afraid Of Terrorism?

After yesterday's failed bomb attacks in London and today's terror attack on Glasgow's airport, England and the US are on high alert again!

Do you live in fear? Do you think that security measures even have to be more strict or do you feel "watched" by Big Brother?

Is the world getting less safe or are you not losing your sleep about it at all?

Will there be more devastating attacks than 9/11???

Living in fear is EXACTLY what terrorists want you to do. I take as many precautions as I can think of but I see no reason to be afraid of something you have no control over. The only way to be completely and 100% safe is to already be dead, then nothing else can ever hurt you.

I'll put it like this: I'm not afraid but obviously I'm concerned about the potential threats. It is only natural to be. I agree with ol'skinflint though. If we live in constant fear, the terrorists have already won.
I come in very public places on a daily basis and use public transportation all the time. I choose to do so since I will not let myself be affected by events that may or may not take place. We only have one life to live and if we constantly fear our surroundings it's not much of a life really.

Not at all. Having lived in London during the IRA campaign & been in the same place at the same time as two IRA bombs and one very near miss, you kind of accept it as part of modern life! The point of terrorism is to 'terrorise' you into changing your behaviour patterns and create fear. Not me . My thoughts and views on terrorists, whatever their points are not appropriate for a forum. Let's just say I have more respect for my cat's poo then them!

As soon as you admit to the fear the terrorists have won....You cannot live your day to day life in constant fear of something that may never happen.
I think we have to accept that we now live in a world where terrorrism will become a regular occurance.

Since 9/11 attack, there has always been a rumor that terrorist attack may happen also in Tokyo mainly because Japan cooperates with the US in Iraq, although nothing has occured till now. At the same time, Japan's tension with North Korea are getting higher recently. Against such backgrounds, Japanese on the whole are getting more conservative and rightish.

I don't live in fear at all now, and crime rate is still low compared with the other countries. But some feeling of fear
of friction is surely growing.

I think North Korea is just showing muscle and it's true aim is getting more money so Kim Jung Il can maintain his "society". I don't think he really intends to attack Japan; South Korea or the US. IMO that crisis will be resolved soon.

However Al Qaida's claims that they only commit terroristic attacks to free Iraq and Palestinia is straight out HUMBUG. They're the leaders of a group that wants to establish a worldwide Islamic regime strictly based on the Quran!

They use the ancient tactic of starting a global war and when all people are scared and desperate they would offer the solution: a leadership that brings peace. Their leadership, their kinda peace and their world domination.

Maybe Bling Laden has read too much books on the Illuminati theory???? Unfortunately for him, I've read 'em too! LOL

BTW, The word islām is derived from the Arabic verb aslama, which means to accept, surrender, or submit.

Jihad means "to strive or struggle," and is considered the "sixth pillar of Islam" by a minority of Muslim authorities. Within Islamic jurisprudence, jihad is usually taken to mean military exertion against non-Muslim combatants in the defense or expansion of the Islamic state, the ultimate purpose of which is to establish the universal domination of Islam. Jihad, the only form of warfare permissible in Islamic law, may be declared against non-Muslims who refuse to convert to Islam or submit to Islamic rule.

Jihad is perpetual in nature; in theory, there can be no permanent peace with non-Muslim states, only truces which can be repudiated when circumstances become favorable for the resumption of hostilities. It ceases when Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians submit to the authority of Islam and agree to pay the jizya (a poll tax) and kharaj (a land tax), and when polytheists convert to Islam. Those who do not accept these terms may be enslaved or killed. For most Shias, jihad can only be waged in the presence of a divinely appointed leader of the Muslim community, and as such is suspended in their absence.

Under most circumstances and for most Muslims, jihad is a collective duty (fard kifaya): its performance by some individuals exempts the others. Only for those vested with authority, especially the sovereign (imam), does jihad become an individual duty. For the rest of the populace, this happens only in the case of a general mobilization. Some Muslim authorities, especially among the Shi'a and ascetics, distinguish between the "greater jihad", which pertains to spiritual self-perfection, and the "lesser jihad", defined as warfare. In modern usage, jihad also refers to one's striving to attain religious and moral perfection.

Not that I want to scare people but over the last years authorities were speculating on the fact that those fools are preparing to use nuclear arms or attack a major city with a "dirty" bomb (small explosive device with nuclear waste).

Do you think they would actually risk and face the consequence of a worldwide war against Islam. Remember the movie "The Siege"??? The reactions portrayed in that pick are very possible you know. A whole lot of peaceloving Muslems will pay a very high price.

Isn't it time those people stand up against the few idiots that are blowing their future into pieces?

If the jihadists use a WMD against ANY non-mohammedan city anywhere in the world we should nuke Mecca. If they use a second; Medina is incinerated. A third Tehran is turned to glass...
