Hey Johan, It may surprise you but I don't really disagree with this opinion piece. I've had a problem with the Islamic mindset since Salman Rushdie(sp). I never heard one Muslim critique the Fatwa!
The thing is if the ideas laid out here are entirely true, we can either hope to change the hearts and minds of these people or engage in global war on a massive scale! I prefer we try hearts and minds first.
Prior to the Bush crime family's installation, I heard the young people of Iran wanted a western style culture. This is significant because they represent a large demographic there. This lends some credence to the hope that hearts and minds can change in a country that brought in this new age of fundamentalist Islam.

I've seen a documentary on Iranian (upperclass) youth and they are like us. They party, listen to Western music and wear Diesel. So maybe there's hope they will pressure for some change.

Today, reports came out that a lot of Iranians are fed up with the Ahmadinejad-regime. He promised to help the poor and divide the oil-dollars but instead inflation is high, everything gets more expensive and people begin to realise that the guy is only interested in fundamentalistic rules and fatwas but does not follow up the economy.

Yep, maybe there's hope but there's a lot of work to be done!
