So vs, what would you suggest we do? If they're gonna blow us all up--I doubt if i could stop em....surely our crack government has intercepted their phone calls and, hmmmm...or, wait a minute--- is actually supplying them with the bombs so they can KEEP US SCARED!!!!!! It's worked in the past: Karla Rove's playbook is gettin kinda predictible by now.... Little "Turdblossom"(Bush's pet name for Karla) must be about ready to let us get bombed in order to change the subject and stop more folks from spilling their guts...:roll::oops::evil:

This whole sex scandal has had me at odds. Yeah it's great to see the holier-than-thou Republicans squirming once again but I also can't help feel a bit of concern for another closeted man who is now faced with his demons and public disgrace. If he doesn't commit suicide or be brutally assaulted or killed by some God-fearing psycho, I'd be surprised.

The closet is a lonely place....one that thankfully I didn't stay in for long. Earlier this year, a friend of mine....closeted but married for 30 years, bank manager and totally harmless...was arrested for soliciting sex in a public washroom. It was unquestionably police entrapment but my friend will not fight the charges for fear of outing himself. It's all I have been able to do to keep him from killing himself.:(

Good article, one that brings many interesting points to light.

This is why I said before "you cut off your nose TO spite your face" (corrected by Marky

) since I find it perplexing that any Gay man would use this case as political ammo against the Republicans.

This article also touches on my thoughts exactly on the scandal, The Reps allow Gays to be part of the party (a start right?) to be more PC but then are attacked if any of then mis-behaves. :roll:

Why would anyone want to belong to a club ( political party) that doesn't want them in the club? Why are gay men Republicans? Republicans use the gay issue to fire up their religious zealot base---so you are shilling for a party that uses you as a scapegoat; they'll take your money--just shut up about it.

It's the CLOSET that's the problem--if you are openly gay--no one can blackmail you--at least not for exposing that fact. But, you do have to keep your behavior on the up and up if you are in public life....trolling for underage teens is never gonna be tolerated--gay or straight. Haven't these stooges seen "Dateline" entrap high school teachers and rabbis and stoopid yokels and guys who bring along their kid-- lured by adults pretending to be an underage girl or boy lookin' for a hookup with an older dude....just go beat off.:razz:

Mix, on the questions you raised, Randi Rhodes and others covered 'em.
The kids saved the IMs because they have been telling everyone from supervisors to newspapers for several years. From what Randi mentioned, they sent this info a few years ago to the Tampa/St Pete Tribune but they didn't follow up on it. They sent it to another newspaper I can't remember but nothing happened.
An election is a good a better time than any to get issues out there that have been ignored for years.
The info was also known by house leadership for a minimum of 6 months to perhaps back to 1995 depending upon when they get their stories straight. Bottom (so to speak) line is the House under repub control was more interested in protecting that seat than any problems pages had.
By the way, the kid who brought this up is republican. I suppose he is suppose to take one for the team.
Mix, what you're seeing are a small faction of repubs at various levels unwilling to eat crap for the Crime Family. No setup! Along with the kids, the Generals a few weeks ago raised issues with the way these guys are managing Iraq and now allowing torture. One of them I know is republican. His name is Batiste.
Some republicans including some in the Pentagon leaking what this Crime family is doing, don't like where this cabal is taking the country. This aint the America we grew up in and this is not the legacy we want to leave the next generation, not to mention the harm it does to us internationally!

I think there is a degree of selfishness that appeal to these log cabin repubs. I was listening to Pacifica and a radio commentary from the Black Agenda. There also exist a parallel with some Black republicans. Repubs really don't want Blacks in the party, at least not in significant numbers. Just enough to show they are not racist come election time then hopefully the Black tools will recede to where they came from post election. Back to my point though, those Blacks and gays IMHO must be attracted to that selfish money grubbin' greed element that is a strong component of that party. :roll:

Having said that, here's one you're gonna like Mix. The Dems are in a battle with a similar issue. It's not race or sex based, it's status based. On one side are the Chuck Schumers and Rahm Emmanuels who represent the party elite, the beltway crowd. I loathe these people. On the other side there is the Dean crowd. I guess we are the rabble. The Schumers care little for the base's opinion but they'll be happy to take our money. I bring this up because I just an email from Schumer asking for money. I never heard from this guy before.
Dean also requests money from time to time but it's not just money. Dean contacts us, the rabble, about meetups, running for local offices, etc.
From what I'm hearing there is an internal minor battle between the two factions.
