Default SPIEGEL Magazine interview with Jimmy Carter

SPIEGEL: You also mentioned the hatred for the United States throughout the Arab world which has ensued as a result of the invasion of Iraq. Given this circumstance, does it come as any surprise that Washington's call for democracy in the Middle East has been discredited?

Carter: No, as a matter of fact, the concerns I exposed have gotten even worse now with the United States supporting and encouraging Israel in its unjustified attack on Lebanon.

SPIEGEL: But wasn't Israel the first to get attacked?

Carter: I don't think that Israel has any legal or moral justification for their massive bombing of the entire nation of Lebanon. What happened is that Israel is holding almost 10,000 prisoners, so when the militants in Lebanon or in Gaza take one or two soldiers, Israel looks upon this as a justification for an attack on the civilian population of Lebanon and Gaza. I do not think that's justified, no.

Once again Jimmy Carter shows his ignorance. The man was the worst US president since Warren Harding. Carter lost in a landslide to Ronald Reagan in 1980. Was Israel just supposed to let Hezbollah take it's soldiers like it's a sport or something? He should go back to building homes, and keep his mouth shut.

Well, you know I just can't let this stand! 8)
Jimmy for sure had more than his share of bad crap during his Presidency. Most notably the Iran hostage crisis, and high inflation were the big issues. Even given those circumstances he may still have been re-elected if the hostages were released prior to the election. Some of you are quite familiar with daddy bush's October surprise. That was the deal he worked with Iran to delay the release of the hostages till reagan takes the oath. You know how you guys love image over substance.
As for Carter being the worst however...not by a long shot. That infamous distinction belongs to the Bush Crime Family, both daddy and son. They are the dumb and dumber of US presidents. Dubya being the worst, will forever be the standard bearer for stupidity and incompetence. I can only imagine the jokes that will come forth when he like prior presidents, set up a library. As for examples, sadly they're too numerous but today's anniversary of Katrina should suffice!
As for Israel and Hezbollah, both sides were engaged in capturing opposing combatants. Both sides also engaged in exchanges. I know when you are spoon fed a diet of FOX news (and sadly the rest of the mainstream media) you can only regurgitate what they gave you though. Their so called news is rather limited and narrow in scope.
So dfc99b, are you opposed to criticism of Israel?

Carter's an idiot and quite possibly a traitor. The western world can thank him for handing Iran to the mullahs. And Iran is the head of the snake in this latest jihad against the West.

*****

Ronald Reagan came in .....guns a slinging .... promising to straighten up that Iranian mess. He had eight years to do it .....so why didn't he ?

I recently realized : As I ran through the list of all possibilities and of EVERY SINGLE PERSON ALIVE on the planet today ....
..... it is the voice of the honourable Jimmy Carter I trust most ..... ( and John Stewart of course!!! ). All the rest of the smiling faces are straight out of the lyrics of the Undisputed Truth ....
