Default Oh Canada!

Graham (or any other Canadian for that matter), what is going on with the government up there? When I heard this yesterday it sounded like Canada will be going through some major changes.

It's not that big a deal, and it's happened before (1979). The current government is a minority government, meaning that while they have more seats than any other party, they don't have more than 50%. This is what can happen when you have more than two political parties. So, without a majority in parliament, they could only stay in power as long as they had support from (some of) the other parties. They finally lost that support, and thus another election had to be called. Ironically, the polls predict a similar outcome for the next election.

We're about to go through another election and as Graham has noted, the outcome will more or less give us a minority government as before. Our country seems to be a bit more fortunate in the fact that, with our lower population and as spread out as it is, the possiblity of major upheaval is limited. And whether this is a good or bad thing (depending on one's views), we seem to have some very loud voices up here that are determined to protect human rights for all.

Hey guys, don't be ashamed! The Walloon (French) government in Belgium is already considered as a state led criminal organisation. We got our part of those gangsters too! Get those frauds in jail, where they belong

Because that's why the Canadian government had to step down: FRAUD!

All governments have their level of crooks. From my country of birth, Jamaica, to a swath of African nations to the big money crooks here in the states.
Here in San Diego, one of our national congressmen plead guilty to fraud. Bassically being a war profiteer pocketing millions of bucks. Chump change really when you consider what the bush crime family are getting away with.
