Yep, that's always amazing. The Lefties (who consider themselves as THE intellectuals) never criticise complete nutcases and massmurderers like Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Ceaucescu, Honecker and other "Fine" :o leaders of the glorious left. Quite astonishing.

Our Belgian Socialist leader frequently went to Cuba and shouted out his love for Il Fidelio Castrato. And BTW Belgians donated large amounts of money to the people of Thailand after the Tsunami. There even were national Telethons to collect money.

Which is great but...after the Hurricane atrocities in the USA, they did nothing. Journalists from our national station VRT (widely considered as a red station) were almost mocking the situation there. "OMG look at these Americans", that was the general comment. This has caused an outrage with many conservatives over here but our Socies and Green Commies never said 1 word in favour of the US. I think they're still mad because the USA liberated us in 1945 and that the Soviets were stopped in Berlin.

Where's the common sense in all that? People who are in need, should be helped!

As a loyal American whose grandparents sent four sons to fight in WWII and save you Euros from your ignorant, primitive selves (except Videoskooter and other honorable, conservative Euros) I'm now reassessing the American role in saving Europe thrice in 70 years.

Big mistake.

We should have let the nazis and soviets consume you in the hell of oppression, murder, national socialism and communism.

If it were within my power I would return all of our war dead from WWI and WWII to their native soil.

When al-Qaeda murders more cowardly Euros on the bus or at work or in a restaurant I will have a certain "Serves 'em right for they are reaping what they have sowed" attitude.

An example: I would spend an average $120.00 USD on Frog wine monthly or $1440.00 a year. I haven't bought a bottle of Frog wine in 4 years. F*ck 'em.

If DiscoMan is typical, conservative Americans are very dangerous people. I'm surprised they haven't yet fully enabled their isolationist, utopian, gun totin' dream to become a permanent reality. Perhaps they could do us all a favour and shoot each other, whilst declaring their inalienable right to carry firearms, but of course, that would be mighty difficult with their heads firmly stuck in the sand.

The world might be a better place though.

Why be nice when many/most europeans consider the U.S. to be the greatest danger in the world today and don't consider themselves to be allies of the U.S?

Our heads aren't stuck in the sand as europe is now a clear and present danger to the United States.

Well aside from Hillary, IMHO the DC insider Dems also favor Biden and a Governor from Virginia who's name I can't remember.
The base and grassroots still heavily lean toward Dean or Gore.
Hillary is a smart woman is in fact much better at interviews than Kerry in my opinion. My problem with Hillary is her vote to support shrub for war in Iraq, and pandering to seemingly right of center issues.

It's true, at some point in the future, the USA and Europe will be fighting each other, either militarily or in some other less openely destructive way. The USA will be a spent force in the not too distant future, as you're showing the classsic signs of a country that's had its time. Your isolationism hasn't helped and won't help you to face the challenges that await us all. That's one of the reasons why we're expanding the European Community and forging more positive links with emerging superpowers. We realise that the future world order is gonna change and we still need to be in there somewhere, whereas you think you can do it on your own.

Genghis Khan and the Eastern hordes damn near conquered europe in the 13th Century (only his death prevented it).

This time they'll succeed.

And you euros are so good at surrender especially the frogs.

If the USA was part of an extended land mass, consisting many disparate countries and religions, it would have been conquered plenty of times....make no mistake.

If we hadn't managed to stop Hitler invading Britain in 1940, the USA would have ended up either making a deal with him or more likely, surrendering to him in 1943/44 when countless rockets would have reigned terror on the population of the eastern seaboard. You would have had absolutely no answer to these or the nuclear bombs that would have followed shortly after.

Good job you came to the party (albeit rather late on) to save our asses.

The U.K. wouldn't have survived much past 1940.
Sure the RAF defeated the Luftwaffe but Britain was on the ropes and wouldn't have been able to stop a Nazi counter attack if der Fuhrer had "Plan B".

The Manhattan Project was started during June, 1942.
Oh, and don't forget "Lend Lease".

British and American undercoveragents stopped Hitler's very effective V2 and as you know the Germans were very close to building nuclear bombs.

I'm very glad the Americans helped us (BTW together with the Brits, the Canadians and the Polish) and that Stalin and his stupid commies were stopped and didn't have the chance to destroy our economies and our characters.

I don't think Europe will ever be in war with the US. I think in the future there will be a solid block between the old and the new continent. It's countries like China and Iran/Syria who are worrying me.

And if the lefties and our beloved socialists are choosing their way of living and thinking, well, North-Korea welcomes you :D You can all live the disciplined and oh so free life under the complete nutcase that is ruling there. Go for it! Recently saw a documentary about that beautiful country where workers are forced to listen to radiostations with only songs about the great Kim and how he is beloved, ALL DAY LONG! Awesome!

Think, it ain't illegal yet! And stop the Chinese before they destroy our markets with their bad copied products. US and Europe must firmly team up again!

Although you had Manhattan project on the go, how would the USA have delivered the bombs? Hitler would have effectively controlled everything in Europe and north Africa. You couln't hasve got within 1000 miles of Germany and his rocket and nuclear bomb programmes wouldn't have had any hindrance from Sept 1940 onwards. He would have also had the UK as an extra launching pad AND all the scientitst and population as potential slave labour.

Look, the oil's going to run out and I'm darned sure when it does, it will be every country for itself. I can't believe that a country that's had such an isolationist foreign policy since forever, wouldn't just bat for its own.The only question I have in my own mind is, who'll have the money to pay for the oil when it reaches the last few billion barrels? The USA and possibly Europe too will both be, in economic terms, in major decline by then. In fact the whole darned world might find itself on the brink of a new stone age, in relative terms. It'll be ugly and you know that!

Good speculation but historically it won't hold. Der Furher's far flung empire required tremendous resources to control and subjugate the local populations - troops he couldn't divert to the front, he'd already double crossed Joe Stalin (Operation Barbarosa June, 1941) and the luftwaffe had no operational long range bombers.

And the krauts were still moving supplies to the front in horse drawn wagons. We had the General and Chrysler Corp. move our supplies.

As you'll use any lame excuse you can to bash the U.S. so Quinny go right ahead. Are you now or have you ever been a member of the National Socialist or Communist Party?

Many Americans are now realizing that saving Europe from any future calamity just isn't worth a fart in hell to us.

Oh, and our first President, the illusrious George Washington, warned us about any future foreign entanglements. No doubt he had the frogs in mind because of the duplicitous frog intrigues he had had to deal with for their "support" during our revolution.

Not a case of bashing the USA, just what possibly would have happened and why you were saving your own asses as well as ours.

Glad to see that McCarthyism is still alive and well in the USA, fifty odd years on and on halloween too. Surely, one of the most distasteful and disgraceful episodes in American political history.

Beware the witch hunt, beware.

We weren't saving ourselves.

For some strange and unknown reason FDR had a genuine affection for you limeys. Never made any sense to me other than as a vagary of history. As a slight digression I had a late and much beloved uncle (mother's older brother) who was stationed as a B-17 mechanic at Molesworth in merry old England from 1943 to 1945. I remember him telling me that his squadron would send 15 B-17s on a mission over Germany. And two or three or five would return to Molesworth. And all to save you from yourselves...

He liked you limeys as well for some godforsaken reason...

Joe McCarthy was correct in his efforts (notice I didn't use the word "right") his only mistake was in his "in your face characterizations. Hollywierd was and is a hotbed of sedition, treason and communism.

We do need an Aleutian Gulag (sited on Kiska) as a place of isolation and the re-education of democRats and radical leftists.
