Default Radio Show - The Playlist

Did the radio show last night - what an experience! Clearly the lovers of house recognise many of the riffs in Disco - feedback during the show was amazing! Anyway, as promised here is what I had time to play - 2 hours sure goes quickly!

Dance With You - Carrie Lucas - Solar (US) 12" 1979
Love Injection - Trussel - Elektra (UK) 12" 1979
Love Is Really The Game - Brainstorm - Misuch Records 12"1977
Captain Boogie - Wardell Piper - Midsong Intl. (US) 12" 1979
Say A Prayer For Two-Crown Heights Affair - Mercury (UK) 1979
What It Is - Garnett Mims & Truckin Co. Arista 12" 1977
Do You Have Any? - Pamplemousse - AVI Records (Album) 1978
Standing On The Verge etc. - Platinum Hook-Motown (UK) 12"
We Were Born To Dance-Players Assocation-Vanguard 1977
You & I - Rick James - Motown (UK) 12" 1979
Let's Start The Dance-Charles Earland-Mercury (UK) 122 1978

Charles Earland definitely got the biggest reaction - lots of texts on that one!

Anyway great fun, and I have been invited back to do it again in the not too distant future

Headlamp: A solid list of top notch numbers.

I presume that was Earland's - Let The Music Play and not as listed? If not, I'm intrigued and all ears.
I'm jealous of your Garnet Mimms 12". A record that deserved better in my book, but maybe it was too Brass Construction sounding and they/their (BC's) sound was already cooked enough by then.

11 tracks in 2 hours!!!!!! Did you just choose the longest ones to drag out? :D

Well I'm pretty sure it is Charles Earland, I'll check and edit the post later when I look at the disc when I get home later! I know from my playlist that it says 'Let's Start The Dance' - on the Mercury label (blue) a UK release in 1978. In the 'old' days I was fortunate to be able to go to a record shop in Enfield that was used to compile the UK National Charts. Consequently they got a lot of rare and limited edition 12" - which naturally I bought! E.g I have All Night Long by Dexter Wansell - released as a 12" in 1978 with the original price tag on it - 80p!!

The Garnett Mims & Trucking 12" I picked up in the 80's with a couple of thousand other 12" & albums from a DJ who had a substance abuse problem. He sold me the lot for £250. It's a cracking track and the influences of Brass Construction is all there.....

I took with me 30 tracks, but it was so difficult to either talk over them or cut them off, that I didn't get to play them all. I forgot to mention I also played

Shoulda Gone Dancing by Hi Inergy and also
Weekend by Patrick Adams on the Phreek album.

I forgot to mark them as played as I was so excited to be there spinning these tunes and taking them to a wider audience.

I have been asked to do it again in soon and naturally will post here to let everyone know! My next 'gig' is on Friday 25th February at The Royal Oak Pub, Finchley Road, Temple Fortune, London NW11. 8.30pm - 12am. Entry is free!

Apologies - bad day. Anyway the record details are as follows as you said....

Charles Earland - Let The Music Play UK Release (Mercury label) No. 9199 831. 1978. God knows where I got the first one from. Senility perhaps?

Clearly the affliction of those who have spent too many nights in places with loud music and flashing lights!

Hi Headlamp, do you happen to know what pirate radio station, or more importantly what frequency it is broadcast on? Possibly I could pick it up from home being as I am just outside London? Your playlist looks great by the way!
