Default DISCO EXTRAVAGANZA TRACK LISTINGS AND MORE!! URL HERE!

Hello all,

I have decided this would be the best way to document and keep ontop of track listings, get comments, feedback, etc. Its a yahoo group (cause its free lol) so you will have to get a yahoo email address (free also) and then join the group for all you listeners out there. Here is the URL:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/discoe...ganza_the_show

This group currently has all the track listings for all programs so far including this weeks thats running now, the only track listing not included was the untitled test show simply because it was just a test show that lead to "Disco Extravaganza" being created, if you would need a track listing for that program you can request one.

Jimmy,
you should definetely not post the tracklists before the show has been around for at least a few days.

We all wanna be surprised and go "OMG, has he completely lost his mind playing this"

Well we all fuck up doin live shit  , and yes the last song was by Ronnie Dyson, thats not the one that was played at 8th Floor as closing song but it sounds identical and still gives the memories and nostalgia. The one played at the disco was by Cecil Parker and I can not find that thing anywhere..Ive looked for years.

The original "Be thankful" is on ROXBURY Records (album titled "Be thankful...." cat #RLX 100) from 1974.
The newer version is on TEC Records (album titled "Figures can't calculate the love....." TEC SA 1200) from 1980

Didn't they increase the BPMs on "Be Thankful For What You Got" on the re-recording from around 94 on the original to around 100-110? It seems it was faster.

I found out the faster one was the second release.

Pardon my senility, but are there two versions of "Call Me Tonight" by Cerrone?

I could have sworn a woman sang that song, but on Jimmy's song it sounded like a man.

I've heard the Rupert Holmes song "Him". I think it went top ten in 1980. Not as big as his Pina Colada song. Jimmy how did you decide to pick that? Did Bobby V play it?

"Call Me Tonight" was indeed sung by a man all along LOL, but there are 2 different mixes of it, one promo only mix from France released in 1980 (much better than the regular but unfortunatly its very rare and wasnt played in the USA) then the regular mix from 1979. I had "Call Me Tonight" pitched way down so the manly voice of Cerrone came out more lol..havent ya ever heard Bobby play that at that pitch? And the Rupert Holmes track was a quick throw in that I had near me and was trying to wind down the set as I was cut for time and Bobby had played that on one of his spins I have from '81..but other than that I never heard him play it. And yes, the William Devaughn track is a faster BPM on the 1980 re-recording.

Hi Jimmy,

How does this 1980 French mix differ from the Atlantic lp and 12" versions released in the US?
