Hi K-Bee,

I downloaded your file but I can't seem to open it and get it to play. Any tips? Really would like to hear this. What is the file extension ".rar"? I think that's my problem.

RAR is a file compression format, like ZIP or SIT. There's a freeware plug-in that allows WinZip to use RAR (haven't used it myself in ages though so I can't remember where).

Audio files compress much better with RAR than ZIP... actually, ZIP has almost no effect on reducing the size of audio files.

Thanks, Graham. I found the website and downloaded their newest version. It's playing fine. If anyone is interested:

Jam master Jay,
I'm working on it as we speak. I've got something special in store for First Choice's Let No Man Put Asunder.
Stay Tuned!!

K-Bee,

Very nice! You worked this --- some nice edits. At first I thought you were giving a "live/on-the-fly" set. Two mixes in I realized no one can move that fast :) . Nice choices to represent those years. Of your first nine songs you've got eight hits by me. I don't recognize the Leroy Burgess number but I like it's Michael Jackson touches from "Don't Stop... Enough".

These questions are coming from the DJ side of my brain, not the dancer: 1) Were you concerned with mood when you were deciding what to mix or was 'beats' the driving force? and, 2) Are these digital edits or old fashion tape splices?

I'll tell ya, some of the tricks were quite fierce and I really like 'em. Let us know when your new one is ready.

Nicknack,
first of all. Thank you for the nice comments :)

I'm really not a live DJ at all. Just like to play around with my computer from time to time. This mix was done with Acid Pro and Cool Edit Pro and with a little help from Fruityloops as well. I had to convert a lot of tracks into the MP3 and Wav formats in order to do so.

I wanted to stay away from the obvious hits of the decade but still try to create a good representation of the various styles of the late 70s and 80's. Of course the beats played a big role. Even today when the "art" of timestretching is the name of the game, I still find it important to stick to tracks with about the same BPM. Altering the speed to much just don't work that well despite all the digital wonders of the modern computer technology

The next mix I'll be adding to the site is a rather strange version of TLC's No Scrubs with some use of Midnight Stars Midas Touch added for the sake of old school flava!
That should be up in about a week or so.
As for "Let no Man Put Asunder" i don't know yet.
I may also do a best of Stock Aitken Waterman mix soon (or maybe that actually should be "Worst of..." )
