 “Magic Bird of Fire” by The Salsoul Orchestra – Video Mix by Glenn Rivera  The 1963 Alfred Hitchcock horror classic, “The Birds” is the outline for The Salsoul Orchestra’s disco-fied Russian-ballet, “The Firebird” by Stravinsky from 1910. “Magic Bird of Fire” is a wonderful outline for the disco symphony that made disco music widely acceptable for its layered disco arrangements. The 1977 LP “The Journey Continues” was produced by Vincent Montana, Jr. and also featured “Runaway” with Loleatta Holloway, their Grammy winning cover of Earth Wind and Fire’s “Getaway”, as well as the 1976 theme from the Montreal Olympics. The finale is pretty intense as well, love the way the seagulls crash into the phone booth in sync with the music. |
