 "Candy Man" by Mary Jane Girls - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera  In 1983, the master of punk-funk, Mr. Rick James gave us his female interpretation of dance: The Mary Jane Girls. This funky ensemble bridged the gap between funk and dance rhythms with their first LP simply titled, “Mary Jane Girls” – one of the first singles, “Candy Man” is a delicious blend of James’ soulful and funky style. Now one of the earliest “old-school” classics this track is paired with scenes from David L. Wolper’s 1971 classic, “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson and Peter Ostrum, which is was based on the 1964 novel, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl.
