It's really annoying me that I can't remember the name of the track @ 56' 50 approx. Is it the Rhythm Makers - Prime Cut?

Glad this 'mix' stayed away from too many of his OTT moog led outings. The guy really knew how to ruin some tracks with that, IMO.

I would have been mortified if it wasn't the Rhythm Makers, 'cos of that dominant keyboard sound that is used sooo much in Zone too.
I think I gave it a few spins BITD, but as Zone is my numero uno track of all time, anything else by them pales by comparison. Most records I played, I NEVER flipped them over, however I vaguely remember using Prime Cut as a either a music bed for a 30 sec. commercial/talkover, or as a piece of instr. talkover music (a la radio jock), so I guess I must have spun it to know what it was like.

If only there were more records as fantasticly brilliant as ZONE!!

Not as good as 'Zone' , but 'Monterrey' is another nice driving disco funk tune by the Rhythm Makers. But I've always thought 'Soul On Your Side' was their best record.

Haven't ever heard Moterrey and when I heard Soul On Your Side it was interesting, but didn't do anything for me. For some reason Disco Nights doesn't have me as hooked nowadays as it should...I've sorta gone off of it for some inexplicable reason. Maybe the realisation that it wasn't as 'original' as I once thought.

It's O.K. to listen to...a good radio track maybe, BUT it wouldn't ever make me wanna dance. Listening to it and having Disco Nights firmly embedded in my brain, I can't help but compare the two and Soul On Your Side almost sounds like a demo, whereas Disco Nights doesn't. Unfinished business, so to speak; and that's exactly what it was, in effect. They're chalk and cheese on one level, but almost like twins at the same time. One's almost polite with a hard-hitting social conscience, the other in yo' face, decadent and slightly vacuous.

Sometimes I wish I'd never heard it 'cos thinking about it, it probably has spoiled Disco Nights for me, which up until the time I first heard Soul On Your Side, would have been a top 20 or even a top 10 all-time tune for me. Now, I can't rave about either of the tracks. Can you see my dilemma?

i think it all depends on which one you hear first

both great and different ways , but i prefer soul on your side. it makes me dance (badly)

At least we have something in common, only now I've had a knee operation I'm finding it very painful to twist 'n' turn.
