• The Hills Of Kat Mandu - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tantra

It was strange how this fantastic album emerged in 1980 from Italian producer, Celso Valli. It created quite a stir. I can remember hearing it for the first time in a club and wondering, "What the heck was going on?" I was fortunate enough to have had a progressive club here in San Diego, "Mr. Dillons" with an outstanding deejay, Mike Duecker - he introduced allot of great import material which was a necessity for the time.
This ReStructure gives the 16 minute an edit and a mystical arrangement. "The Double Album" is a complete classic! Valli outdid himself with an incredible ensemble of musicians and studio vocalists. This LP should not be forgotten - it is an standard as a Love & Kisses (Alec R. Costandinos) production or Donna Summer LP in the realm of "disco" music.

I found the Italian pressing of "Hills of Katmandu" first, and I always thought it made more sense. It's a single LP, backed with the similarly-themed "Wishbone". It has appropriately trippy cover art, unlike the strangely spartan cover of The Double Album. The other tracks on The Double Album don't fit in at all to me; they sound like they were from another group... and the more that I listen to it, the more that I think they are.

There are some interesting additions to this remix/re-edit particularly the arrangement. A few of the added sounds stick out a bit too much to my ears though.

Is the CD as good as the album? I was curious about the quality when I saw the CD but hesitated because it was expensive....
