The first 2 tracks show that there is some half decent modern stuff being produced, that uses samples. I hope some of the old-timers around here give them a listen. To which genre do they belong (me being old and totally out of it, I wouldn't know)?

Me too Quinny! Though not quite as old as you (I've been reading the 'dancing to disco' thread :) ) !

The first (Fatback sampling) track is about 15 years old, an Italian thing. Very clever. Candi Staton sounding like Barry White :). The second one is pretty new. Great use of Mike T (I never liked the rap anyway).

There's loads of other samples to spot for a connoiseur like yourself. Fire away!

As for the genre/s. Black? disco? funk? soul? :)

The Sunshine Band Sampling one is Napoleon Soul-O. The 12" came out in 95 on eightball recs. Not many house DJs played it coz its only 116 bpm and even at plus8 it was too slow for them. Great tune.
