.. the original 1978 Jimmy Simpson mix of Ashford & Simpson "It seems to hang on" must be one of my favourite records of all time .. and is unlikely to be surpassed ..
.. however this interesting new conga driven remix is much better than the Tommy Musto mix featured on their recent Warner compilation "Hits, Remixes & Rarities" .. listen to the sound-clip on Juno:

.. the congas seem to disappear into the mix after a couple of minutes but can still be heard on this Juno sample ..


.. after the congas stop the spacey effects start .. these can be heard on this Juno sample .. obviously inserted to please the current space disco crowd .. but don't let this put you off .. all the best elements still feature from the original, including the amazing string & horn lines .. which are used to good effect ..

.. and this 12" EP is quite good value for money too .. check out the superb "Nights over Memphis" on the b-side .. featuring the words of Dr King over the Jones Girls "Nights over Egypt" .. sounding to the world like a Moodymann makeover ..
