Default Unequalled: The Jerry Bonham mixes

Jerry Bonham's "Remember - The Troc Party" contains, in all probability, the absolute best disco dj-ing ever. I honestly think this is it, this is where it all comes together, the Magnum Opus of our music, the definite sonic Bible that will inspire, stun and humble anyone seriously into the genre. I could have never have imagined music could be spinned with that kind of feeling and technical bravado.

The seque starts with slowish bpms and accelerates thru the 110's and 120's into the very best no frills floorshakers via killers many of us have never danced to. Eq-ing, shading, coloring the tunes, meticulous inclusion of details, every aspect is perfect without sounding clinical. Within the first 20 minutes you are certain that he cannot top this or that seque, you think THIS has got to be the ultimate pièce de résistance, until the next blend blows you away again - just witness the way he goes from "The Passion" by The Flirts into the following track, you'll feel like the floor drops away beneath your feet. Basslines rumble, mutate and melt into new forms, a song appears to grow vertically from the left while your favourite string arrangement flows wavelike across. It's beautiful, art.

My tip is you tell everyone you'll be away for the whole evening, lay down on a sofa, put on your headphones and go to the Trocadero.

Jussi, when "Remember the Party - Soul Recharge" concluded, I remember how blown away I was with Jerry Bonham's set. I was so impressed with his smooth, intricate mixes and reedits, along with his ability to group just the "right" songs to convey a certain mood. All part of the original magic of the Trocadero Transfer DJs! However, it wasn't until I was able to sit down and really listen to the soundtrack to the party, that I realized just how much work and details he put into set.

Needless to say, when the decision was made to go ahead with "Remember the Troc Party" (originally "Remember the Black Party") with Jerry spinning again, several of us were most anxious to hear if he could recapture the magic. As you’ve probably read in my recap to RtTP, you know that I thought he absolutely did so! Jerry has told us he loves this era of dance music. Don’t you think that shows?

Anyway, some may think I’m a little bit biased since I help out at the RtP events. So, it’s nice to hear I’m not alone with the way I feel! Plus, you described his magic so eloquently!! :D

The best part is that we have the opportunity to hear and dance to another set of Jerry spinning the classic disco genre. Do I need to tell you that we cannot wait to hear what he’s creating for us on October 8th, 2006???
