Thanks for this!

Curious as to what these "unreleased mixes" might be...

I just noticed it says the CDs are made from albums. So what is the quality like?

They're made in Italy, so chances are they're not from original master tapes. I would love to hear a review of the quality though.

I've been trying to find a decent pressing of "I'm A Man" for ages. The US Prelude copies have one channel die as the record progresses, the Canadian copies sound weak and anemic, and the Italian pressing on Goody (curiously, mastered in the USA) has weak bass and the stereo image has been narrowed.

Graham: Have you checked out the version (17:34) offered on Ben Liebrand's Grand 12-Inches Vol. 2 set? Sounds pretty good to me.

Not yet, but I'm more interested in "Because There Is Music In The Air" (or, "Cose There Is Music In The Air" as it is titled on the Goody Music copy). In any event, I managed to get it sounding pretty good with some EQ and stereo expansion. But the channels are reversed on the Goody copy, and I don't know which is correct. I suppose it doesn't really matter, but I'm anal about these things.

Default Hi

this message is to neonlights. Could you please let me (or all of us, I guess) know what you think of the quality of these CDs? A couple of them are titles I've been looking for on CD for a long time but if the quality doesn't justify the cost, I'll just find someone locally to transfer my albums onto CDs. Thanks.

I'll be sure to do that ol'skinflint!

I've actually been waiting for someone else to post their reviews before buying lol.. I was a bit dismayed to hear they were mastered from vinyl, not to mention I'm trying to give my credit card a rest since I went a little crazy with it for a little while.. So needless to say, I haven't ordered this yet. If/when anyone here has this please let us know what it's like (especially WRT sound quality)... Even if nobody else posts a review, I'll probably end up ordering either the set with Firefly or Peter Jacques Band to start..

Hello,

Since Revanche and Peter Jaques Band have been some of my favorite disco acts, I couldn't wait to have my own copy of this set.

I know some of us are concerned about sound quality, but Goody Music, the label that is selling this collection, is exactly the same label that back in the 70's and 80's licensed these recordings to the american record companies (Prelude, RFC, etc).

Yes, these records were trasfered from Vinyl, but the record company is being honest to state this in their product (remember the "From the original master tapes" legend in the Hot Production's records that sounded like old 8-track tapes?)

So, these records are not remastered, but even super disco diva Donna Summer has only one full disco album remastered (Bad Girls De-luxe) and she really sold millions of records in her disco peak days.

In my opinion, and let me tell you, I'm not an expert, the sound quality is pretty good, much better than the average disco re-releases from Hot Productions. I don't have copies of the original vinyls in mint condition, and I can't connect my turntable to my car stereo o take it to my office, and neither have the time and patience to make my own edits and burn my own cds. So I hope the more experienced sound purists can post their own opinion for a better reference.

The collection doesn't have inner notes, but they give full and accurate credit to the musicians, arrangers and singers.

The album listings:

CD 1: Peter Jacques Band - Fire Night Dance

CD 2: Peter Jacques Band - Welcome Back

CD 3: Peter Jacques Band - Dancing in the Street

CD 4: Revanche - Music Man, Rudy - Just take my body

CD 5: Macho - I'm a Man, Macho- Roll

All full album with some extra tracks (Edit versions, some extended version, disco edits and single edits)

Hope this helps
