Filmed in Brazil those things may be but hey, there's SO much more interesting things related to that country :-)! Thanks to the miracle of vhs and later the dvd, folks around the globe have been introduced to the amazing Jose Mojica Marins aka The Coffin Joe, a surrealist extraordinaire and the original Godfather of splatter cinema - so no, Gordon Herschell Lewis wasn't the first auteur of the ott kind. Watch "Tonight I Possess Your Soul" or "Awakenings Of The Beast" and your jaw will drop to the floor.
