| SLEEPAWAY CAMP was released amidst the glut of crappy slasher films from 1983. It is as ineptly made as any other, but as NRG said, it does contain a doozy of an ending (not on par with the likes of THE RING, but very good for the genre). People saw it expecting a FRIDAY THE 13TH rip-off, but the ending makes the film more akin to HOMICIDAL! The best thing about that ending: it wasn't a red herring. If you pay attention to the opening sequence, and some of the exposition during the flashback sequences, the ending makes sense. It is a VERY twisted story, and I wish it had been told by a competent filmmaker. Keep an eye out for Chris Collet (FIRSTBORN) and Mike Kellin (THE INCIDENT, MIDNIGHT EXPRESS).

| Pamela Springsteen was featured most prominently as the main "Pat Benatar" lookalike going to school at Ridgemont High in "Fast Times At Ridgemont High",(1982), a very funny look at teenage life in 1982 written by Cameron Crowe and directed by Amy Heckerling. Crowe actually went back to school and pretended to be a student to get the material for the book the film was based on. Remember his "Almost Famous" was based on his earlier adventures on the road with rock bands writing for Rolling Stone. Bruce's little sister did a few other films, then faded away to a trivia question. However, the rest of the then mostly unknown cast went on to much bigger and better things. Among them: Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Phoebe Cates, Judge Reinhold, and making their film debuts: Nicolas Cage (Coppola), Eric Stoltz, Anthony Edwards, and Forest Whitaker. Credit Don Phillips the casting director, (he also cast "Dazed & Confused") and Amy Heckerling ("Clueless") for an outstanding cast.
