| Hi there, i have a book about the BLAXPLOITATION movie posters, and there is one poster in there of a movie called: DISCO GODFATHER!! starring Rudy Ray Moore and Carol Speed. It's a movie about an retired cop that becomes a discjockey at a disco club. And all things go well untill theres a problem concerning his nephew and drugs in the disco. And so he has to settle the score and clean up the streets. But thats all i know. So, Is the movie anygood? Is it worth buying it on DVD? And how is the disco-soundtrack??? [ This Message was edited by: nonkel808 on 2002-06-28 16:04 ] |

| Nonkel, whenever you see any film with the name Rudy Ray Moore in the cast, avoid it like the plague.

| Look on page three of this section: you'll see a discussion of Blaxploitation Films there. The comments by Hustlebaby, Paul and myself cannot begin to describe how awful Rudy Ray Moore is. However, if you see a super-cheap copy of one of his films, grab it, but prepare to watch it by drinking or drugging heavily. When you are close to an overdose, you might be able to stand the film.

| I remember reading an article on "Disco Godfather" in Movieline magazine, it was on their "Bad movies we love" section. So it's probably one for the (unintentional) laughs. |

| I know this is an old thread but I just stumbled across it by a google search. First, I dont know why all of you were giving Rudy Ray Moore a hard time. His humor isnt for the dull or close minded. His humor is very raunchy and sometimes dark..but im on that level of humor so I apreciate it and find him absolutly hillarious. The film isnt worth paying full price for, but if you can find it for 10 bucks or less, it's def worth checking out and its funny as hell if you like this type of comedy. But even if you arnt on that level of humor, it's worth checking out just for the music alone! Now, as for that music (which no one even bothered to mention!), it is SOLID STUFF! You have the main theme which is basicly hard disco, simmaler to something Patrick Adams woulda done with Musique. Then you have 2 disco/funk tunes, and 1 very nice morning/sleaze cut. The soundtrack is very hard to find, and when you do find it, its usualy only on the internet on ebay, and it goes for no less than 150 bucks. Im still hunting for a copy for a half way reasonable price (id pay 50 bucks for it) and have been for quite some time...was lookin again today and thats how I got googled to this thread.

| Hey jimmy, I wasn't giving RR a hard time, just the movie I liked his raunchy humor. I used to have his "party records" on cassette but I have no idea if I still have 'em He frequently performed with Lawanda Page(sp), Sanford & Son's Aunt Esther. Talk about some funny raunchy stuff
