Who were your favorite adult film stars from the "Golden Age of Porn", from the late 70's to early 80's??

Mine were Holly McCall and Juliet Anderson, also known as "Aunt Peg".

As for other favorites from the good ol' days, J.W. King, Gordon Grant, Dick Fisk, Will Seagers, Bob Blount and Mike Morris come to mind. A little more recently: Pierce Daniels, Michael Christopher, Chad Douglas (fun to watch, but please don't speak!), Steve Kennedy and Matt Powers (a nice guy too). Of the current crop of performers, the only one who grabs my attention is Steve Cassidy.

I interviewed Jack Wrangler several years ago (in his hotel room ) and he said
he feels about the business today the same way I'll bet most of us do: too pretty, too blow-dried, too smooth, too many do-me "straight" guys--just not REAL.

I do have other stories I could tell about porn stars , but I'll turn the floor over to Marky...

Actually, I have seen a number of all-male porn films as well, but like everything else about me, I'm extremely particular.

One film that I saw that I liked was "Against The Rules" (1980). Another one is "I Do" (1984). I am not really into all-male porn of today because like Jack Wrangler said, it's not "real". One current actor, though, who I like is Alex Wilcox.

I like the porn of the late 70's-early 80's for the most part.

Back in the 80s I liked such porno stars as Ginger Lynn and Traci Lords. I can't think of the names of others from that era, which is surprising since I saw a fair number of porno films back then.

I would guess that the old videos with Traci Lords are rare and highly collectable, since weren't most of them pulled from circulation because she was underage when she made them?

That's quite true. And as time passes by, it gets even harder to remember names. By the way, I hope you weren't bothered with that one comment of mine (the "straight edge" one). It was just about my input on this thread, which naturally would be from my point of view.

Yes. And from what I remember, only one of her movies remained on the shelves because Traci was finally of legal age when that one was filmed. I knew people who had some of the ones from her underage days, so that's how I saw those films of hers.

La Cicciolina aka Ilona Staller, resident of Italy but born in Hungary, gets my vote. She comes across like a some sort of slightly demented Tinkerbelle, with a permanent grin, Cleopatra eyes and headpiece and virginal white robes. She'll do the most amazing acts, smiling sweetly no matter what, managing to convince she actually enjoys what she is doing. No small feat considering what she was asked to do during the 80's and 90's in shot-on-film product such as ORGIA ATOMICA and CARNE BOLLENTE ( Boiling Flesh). A bit of porn history here: Ilona got elected into Italian parliament as a member of her astute manager Richard Schicchi's "Love Party", travelled the world over flashing her boobs, appeared in the cover of the Vogue without any makeup on and looking extremely photogenic, recorded two cheesy dance albums ( with cuts like "Black Sado", "Animal Rock" and "Benihana"), married artist Jeff Koons, starred with him in an arthouse porn extravaganza called MADE IN HEAVEN, went thru a messy divorce and recently announced she's going to restart her porn career. A true veteran worth our cheers considering she first disrobed on film during the late 70's!

Did you know Will Seagers used to spin at the Badlands? If I recall correctly, his real name was Gene Gordon. He used to come into Aloha all the time. One of our coworkers used to tease him about his porn career every now and then. A very nice person. I expected a big ego but, if anything, he seemed a bit shy.

There is a sort of intrigue about those "gay for pay" straight guys who do gay porn. Especially, if they have the talent to exude what the gay audience wants to see. Paul Carrigan who identifies as straight, is not the typical "just do me" Jeff Stryker type. This guy does it ALL with his "straight" acting appeal. I wonder if it is difficult for straight guys to get into straight porn? I would imagine it is very "cliquie" and one of course must have to know the right people. Isn't it a shame how many of those incredible straight actors never get receive any good camera shots when doing those straight movies? Doesn't anyone who produces these movies assume some viewers might be looking at the men? Mark Davis, Randy Spears, Rocco Siffredi all very hot and many times lack reasonable exposure in return for those "silicon" girls...

The thing is, straight porno films are marketed for straight men, so that's probably why. I know that when I watched pornos, I didn't pay attention to the men, and for the obvious reason.

I did know that "Will Seagers" had been a DJ, but I didn't know where. I met him once years ago at a tea dance at the I-Beam (now torn down, I just read in the BAR! :sad: ) and I'd have to agree that he seemed like a nice, normal guy.

Oh Jeff, I told you about Gene Gordon AKA Will Seagers. He seemed the least likely porn star to me cause he didn't really radiate much sexuality in person. He did photograph well, as I confirmed when I went back to take a look at "LA Tool & Die" to figure out what song was used in the bar scene. ("Baby I Love You" by Easy Going, for the record.) He was a really lousy actor, however.

My,( admittedly jaundiced), opinion of him partially stems from the fact that while all the other guys in the Castro were wearing engineer, logger or some other kind of workboot back at that time--Gene wore Bass Weejuns. How preppy!!!!
