No one person started disco music. You can say it evolved from soul and motown music, but it's more complicated than that.

It's a controversial subject, because there are very opposing views to this subject.

One group believes that disco started with the Big Bang, which was the thud of a giant cosmic needle being dropped onto a record. The reverberations of this massive boom morphed and evolved into the other sounds which we now know as disco.

However, another group believes that disco was created by God in six days, as follows:

Day One. On the first day of Creation God made the 4/4 kick drum beat. He simply pounded it into existence. We see that silence had already come into existence, for the creation of the beat was actually a separation of sound from the silence that was already present. After creating the beat, God waited for the completion of the record – the first record in history.

Day Two. On the second day God separated the beat into downbeat and backbeat, thereby creating the music's rhythmic cycle where a kick is on the downbeat and a snare/handclap is on the backbeat.

Day Three. On the third day God added the bass line, adding the first pitched sound to the mix. Not stopping there, He also added lots of percussion to the mix. Syncopated cowbells, hi-hats, wood blocks, and all manner of sounds. At the end of the third day we read “And God heard that it was good.” This phrase will be repeated at the end of each of the subsequent days of creation and shows that God’s creation was good and merited His approval.

Day Four. On the fourth day God made the strings and the horns. The Bible says that He gave them for melody and as a measurement of time. He created the wah-wah guitar to provide funkiness during the verses and the piano to provide melody during the chorus. And it was good.

Day Five. On the fifth day God created divas and girlie choruses. He commanded them to multitrack their vocals to fill the mix. And it was good.

Day Six. On the sixth day God created synths. And it was good. But God was not yet finished. On this day God also created the electric piano, the flute, the analog sequencer, the string synthesizer, the phaser, and the vocoder. At the close of the sixth day we read that “God heard all that He had mixed and it was very good.”

On Day Seven, God rested and thus the break was created.
