Certainly a much better show tonight. Quite a few twists for me.

Nadia... blah song , first on , remembered least.

Bo ... hasn't brought down the house once , and not again tonite

Anwar ... pleasant to look at , great teeth , great skin tone .... but continues to project that Peabo league of basic singing ability . Bad song didn't help. ( Why do they pick songs that were only medium hits at best... there's a reason they did only so well. )

Anthony ...tonight's surprise. He is really starting to enjoy being on stage, more relaxed. . I never liked that Paul Young song but Anthony's interpretation changed my attitude about it. Yep perfect song for him.

Vonzell ... this seems like a cake walk for her. Almost too perfect. looks like a cookie cut out for an instant star ..maybe not enough uniqueness to her sound. But she sings like a record ready to be played .. no retakes needed for her. She'd have been some diva back in the day. "Let's Hear it For The Boy ' never sounded better.

Scott .... hooey .... Scott somehow got in under my skin tonite. That was a great rendition of "She's Gone". Hall & Oates agreed. He's got what I think is most exciting .. a unique style in his vocalizing. Unique is the key word .

Carrie .... I said it was hers to lose and it looks like she's trying hard. Pat Benatar? Why emulate the non descript? Worst of the evening.

Constantine .... did what should get the respect of the voters . Performing Queen .. and doing it well... that's sticking your neck out . Admirable job
___________
Bottom three:
---- Carrie! - Nadia - Anwar ....... OUT:... Nadia

Nadia --poor song choice although her singing was fine.

Bo--He's overrated.

Anwar--Improved over previous weeks so he may last another week, but still not one of my faves.

Anthony--He's become boring and predictable.

Vonzell--Good song choice and she did a nice job.

Scott--A little weak at first, but then he exploded in the chorus.

Carrie--Poor song choice this week. Her weakest performance.

Constantine--Not a fave of mine, but he'll get through because of audience support. As Randy said he gets a ten for showmanship.

Nadia, shouldn't have been voted out. She wasn't that bad.

I think the only reason Anthony stays around is because he has a female following.

I liked Nadia's voice a lot too, and would have liked to have heard her take some standards and really rip into them. but after waiting and waiting..... At this stage of the game ,you have to have a strategy. And if your stategy is :"listen to how well i sing this song you've never heard before" .... it ain't gonna get you the votes. They need to take the really great songs and make them even greater. And not just choose ones that were popular , and are easy to sing and then re-mimic them . They 've got to convince the crowd they're able to take an already hard song to new heights.
How can Carrie hope to "own' a song when she barely knows the lyrics.
That's why for this week my alligence went to Scott. I really felt like he was trying to communicate the sentiments of the song .

Remicks,

I enjoyed reading your post. I also believe at this point in the contest that they are gonna have to get a little more creative... The 2 favorites to win this year are CARRIE UNDERWOOD & CONSTANTINE MAROULIS... As both have huge fan bases... I believe ANTHONY FEDEROV since he is the youngest in the competition has a big following also... he was only in the bottom 3 once. Scott could've done himself some justice if he practiced his song more... He knew he sounded like shit during the first part of the song... when he nailed the chorus... I was like wow!!!!!

Check out Vonzell, she really is the only legitiment R&B singer left... so you know she isn't going anywhere soon.... unless she completely blows it. BO BICE on the other hand has to compete with Constantine who has been picking the perfect songs to showcase his mediocre voice... Can't wait for next week.... I'm still waiting for disco/dance songs and or maybe a good Doo Wop song week.

In previous years they did do a disco theme week. This year they have been trying to pick different themes (Broadway, Songs From The Year You Were Born, etc) to make it more interesting.

A few changes from previous years:

Age limit

No guest judges during theme weeks.

No wildcard show--where they brought back someone already kicked off.

So far no videos featuring the contestants.

I guess I never saw the rule changes... if they bring anybody back... NADIA & JESSICA would be the only choices... & or maybe NIKKO. They can actually sing.

..... thanks efunk .. I like your input as well ......its fun to watch these young people wrestle with music that's thrown at them ...
Tonight .... It must be me ..... a night of 70's music and I'm not overwelmed this time around .....

Constantine ..... Bee Gees ..always a good choice for me. It was alright, dog.

Best of the night .....Anthony ..... "Don't Take Away The Music " ... delivered crisp and clean .. could actually understand the words of this song .... He's confident now.... careful Anthony .. almost cocky .....

Scott ..... picked the right song "Everlasting Love " . I like this guy's voice a lot & he applied it to the right song. The right song for his voice that is , but not the song to bowl the crowd over .

Carrie .... great voice .... nice presence , not sure about the Dolly Parton look ... ...but ... she doesn't know what she's singing or why .... I'm not going to complain about a well-delivered "MacArthur's Park" though.

Vonzell .... "I'm Every Woman" ..for me that's a song that'll get a channel change ....but to be fair ..... she did it right and as always looked great. She looked the best .

Anwar ..... "September" that's what Anwar needs to do .. join an ensemble group , like Earth Wind & Fire .... do lead on a song here and there ... then mix back in ......

Bo -- one dimensional ..another Blood , Sweat and Tears sounding performance ..... Vehicle was a hit in 1970 ... and is more in flavor with the sixties ... not a good representative song of the seventies. Good thing for him they don't get judged on that.

So ..... who's the bottom three.... Scott :( , Anwar, Carrie .... OUT .... Anwar....

Amazing Race was much better ....

Did I get my wish or what....

Here's my breakdown of the bunch....

1) Constantine Maroulis - Nights On Broadway
Isn't this guy gonna pick the wrong song to throw himself off? I dunno but I gotta tell you he definitely has the it factor about him. It almost doesn't matter what he sings because he has the whole female world on his side. Vocally he did well... His stage presence was again steady. Although he is a rocker... he is dealing & loving this whole experience more and more as he goes along. You can see it in his performance.

***

2) CARRIE UNDERWOOD - Mac ARTHUR PARK
Because we (us) like dance music... I was just a little upset with her choice words just before she hit the stage... She started singing the song way to fast at the beginning and I was a little disappointed. However, as she went along she really hit those notes really well. Carrie is a natural, has a natural gift and could sing just about anything she wants and get away with it. She definitely is one in the competition to beat.

***1/2

3) SCOTT SAVOL - EVERLASTING LOVE
I didn't really enjoy his pre interview either... :-? Why the hell is 70's dance music such a big deal with people? I wanted to smack him for that. For the first time in a while Scott actually was in tune for the entire song... But I'm telling you of all the idols he has the worst stage presence... I'm not picking on him just because he's got a weight problem, he's gonna have to come up with some other kind of detourant to take the focus off his shortcomings... What he's been saying to the audience and his comments back to Simon aren't really working for me. In other words... Constantine is using
Sex or Sexy to carry himself... Vonzell is using virginity as part of her appeal... you guys know what I'm talking about?

***

4) ANTHONY FEDEROV - DON'T TAKE AWAY THE MUSIC
Damn that kid nailed it! He picked the right song for his vocal style... Just think if he sang another powerful vocal by Tavares - IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE.... he would've rocked the house down!!!! I'm telling you. The one thing I like about Anthony is that he truely has a pair of lungs... I think he should do another dance song... what he wore tonight sucked... Maybe he should've dressed up like Constantine... lol

****

5) VONZELL SOLOMON She really did an original and hip version of that classic song by CHAKA KHAN. The only thing I was worried about was towards the end where the original cannot be duplicated vocally. I have to agree that this tops the richter scale on a tough tough song to sing. I'm so glad they tried to play the song in a more 70's style... because I just couldn't handle WHITNEY HOUSTON'S version. It sucks with a passion. Another solid performance by Vonzell who just continues to shine.

****

6) ANWAR ROBINSON - SEPTEMBER
You know... this was the weaked performance of the night... Anwar is a great vocalist... however this was just not his best.

**

7) BO BICE - VEHICLE
At first talking about how Bo was presenting himself when he was in the bottom 3... It just seemed that he couldn't care less if he gets voted off or not. That was just the impression I got. Bo is very talented and has a cool voice. I'm so happy that the producers let him sing VEHICLE because it was just poppy/dancey enough for tonight.... shhhhh!!!! lol Anyways, he nailed it! It was very very good.

****

Bottom 3.........

ANWAR, SCOTT & ANTHONY ----> most likely ANWAR is going bye bye.

I'll give a brief run through.

Those that were good:

Anthony, Vonzell, Scott (Yes, he is stiff on stage and I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley)

Carrie--good but something was missing for me. Perhaps a different song choice??

My least favorites:

Constantine--He may have a lot of female fans, but he didn't win me over last night with his take on a Bee Gee's tune.

Bo--I don't consider "Vehicle" a 70's dance tune but more of a rock song. I don't think that was fair to the other performers who kept with the theme.

Anwar--It's his turn to go.

A few other comments:

The dancing segments were stupid.

Scott--you're white, quit trying to sound black.
