Advice on Getting Music

I didn't really know
in which forum to write this

in the post napster era
songs are a bit harder to get hold of

A few months ago I had morpheus and everything was paradise
but no my morpheus version is to old

and there is no new Morpheus apart from the Preview Edition
which user libary is seriously limited in comparison to
the earlier MOrpheus or Kazaa

any recommendation where
I could download a program
where I could get all the Disco songs
and not only the most commerical ones

I am also very satisfied with the interface
of the old KAzaa and Morpheus.....

I just downloaded the new Morpheus 1.9
version
in hope of getting a better program

it overwrote my old program
and now
when I search for artists such as the Stacy Lattisaw

it gives me two hits only

I don't bother with file sharing programs at all... I get my music at second-hand shops or by trading with others, which gives you the complete experience... the cover artwork, the b-sides, album tracks, etc. Why waste time searching for lo-fi, poorly transferred MP3s when you can have the real thing?

we usually have to turn to AMazon.com

Many of us use AudioGalaxy, I've found some great things on there. Hurry up and use it, though.....they are already being sued by the industry.

Decide to dump the art in music
and make it into a big buisness

There was no longer quantity
but a few artists belonging to a few labels
that all fought to market them as world leading.
Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Madonna amongst others....

everything that had been great in the 70's
turned sour in the 80's

This whole revolution could be symbolized and was caralyzed by the Thriller album. Where a great rape was comitted on disco and funk by manufacturing it into plastic pop.

After that the cake became bigger
but the pieces fewer....

The Free music sites will forever benefit
the struggling artists who are fighting to make one gold album.....

while the multi platinum Michael Jackson, Metalica's and whatever people.
That got more money then an artist deserves.

but who are ever so dear to the Recording Companies. Because they are the milking cows that always deliver and that can be included in nice financial calculations to please investors.....

These artists will sell LESS because of two reasons:
A:Exposure the Free music exposure only benefits artists that are less famous because they get discovered. While the big guns get all their music ripped on to the web.
B:The Milking cows usually bet safe with boring commericial pop that gurantees revenues but kills creativity. If you here a single like this enough times it becomes boring and you throw it away.
Alas the people that realease more groundbreaking and unorthodox productions get more accepted since the ever so lovely majority. is often afraid of the new it is going to take at least 5 listens before they discover the Essence of the song and become perhaps inlove with a whole knew genre

But everybody knows all this already
Especially the gifted People on this site
And Especially the millionaries at the labels

so whats the use going on about it...

I believe that one day funk and Disco will come back and shock the industry to its feet.

from joining with the enemy as was the case last time (Motown, Atlantic with others)

What makes it the hardest for me to download sound files these days is that file sharing programs such as Audio Galaxy don't have a Mac version (which Napster had), and I don't know of any that do, so I'm completely left out in the cold.

This is absolutely not true. Go and get yourself "Sputnik" over at http://www.versiontracker.com. It runs on Mac OS X beautifully and has never crashed. You can also dl "Limewire" if you want a non-Audio Galaxy client. Heck, you can run Windows 98/2000 (through VirtualPC) on a Mac and do it that way as well.

How is Audio Galaxy as a program

I am used to the Morpheus and Napster

altought I think that the old Morpheus and Kazaa

had the perfect displays
showing song length, download length and most improtantly file quality of each file downloading

can anybody tell me about Audio Galaxy how the browsing is
and where the best plays would be to download the application

How Audio Galaxy works?

Well basically you search for the MP3s on the Audio Galaxy website and download them using a program called "Audio Galaxy Satellite".

Now heres what you do to get set up with Audio Galaxy, go to http://www.audiogalaxy.com and sign up to it using a username and password. Then you download the Audio Galaxy Satellite software which you install on your computer and when you open it you set the username and password to yours and select the directory you want to share (the songs will download to the main directory you share) and people can download from you when you're online. Now when you go to the Audio Galaxy website to download songs, you must also log in using your username and password. After that you search for the songs you want by typing the artist name and song, to broaden your search just use key words eg to search for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - Tell The World How I Feel About 'cha Baby, just type "harold melvin" and "tell the world" and it will give broader results because people type the song titles a little differently. Once you found the song you want, you click on it and it will give you options of what type you want such as "Most popular", "320k", "128k", "Exact version" etc..., best bet is to click "Click here for an exact version" so it will give you a list of all of the versions of that song available and the times beside them so you know which ones are good and complete and which ones are incomplete or which ones are long versions and which ones arent. In the list click on the one you want and click "Search" and then it will throw the song you picked into the queue. You can add as MANY songs you want to the queue so when you have your Audio Galaxy Satellite going the songs will download one after the other.

Audio Galaxy to me is the best MP3 file sharing service I've ever came across because you can find a lot of the rarest funk and disco music on planet earth and I've downloaded over a 1000 MP3s from Audio Galaxy since August last year where as Napster (known to some people as Crapster) I've only downloaded 100-200 MP3s and I didn't find half as much rare stuff as I did on Audio Galaxy.

And some of you's are mentioning Audio Galaxy are getting a lawsuit, I'll have to grab as many songs as possible before Audio Galaxy goes down the tubes. Hopefully Audio Galaxy will survive. I mean if Audio Galaxy goes, then it will mean I'll have to import records from other countries and the pain in the arse thing about that is it takes a few weeks for the money orders to get to the seller and another few weeks for the record to arrive to my doorstep and paying for shipping cost adds to the cost which means I'm paying more than the record or CD is worth. Sure I prefer to get the music on record, CD or tape and if I see them in a music store I'd buy them, but a lot of the stuff I want is not available in Australian CD stores because the stores are dedicated mainly to young guys who like nothing but modern stuff and the nearest disco/funk record store is in Sydney which is over 50km (30 miles) away from where I live.

I swear if it weren't for MP3 file sharing, then many songs go undiscovered. It's like this, when you's suggest songs, I sometimes go and download them and check them out, but without file sharing I'll have to search the net for the albums and go through the slow process of sending money orders to USA and waiting weeks for the record or CD to reach my doorstep.

Anyhow the big question is, are these big-arse record companies really losing money because of MP3 file sharing?

There's just one thing I forgot to add. With Audio Galaxy, you don't know who you are downloading from nor can you chat with online sharers, but there are message forums on there.
