Default Famed San Francisco DJ, Michael Garrett

How sad. I just found out that San Francisco DJ, Michael Garrett, passed away this weekend. He was most famous for his long stint spinning at the I-Beam in San Francisco. He used to pack the crowds into that club! Around that time, I remember he spun on one of the radio stations on disco Saturday nights (I think it was K101). He used to play the Patrick Cowley megamix of Donna's "I Feel Love" over the air (this was when very few people had access to this version of the song)! In later years he had a cool music store in the Castro, CD Record Rack. Always a gentleman when I shopped there (and he told some hilarious stories about his I-Beam days!).

I'm glad we were able to see him at the Remember The Party last April.

I think I visited that store when I was in SF several years ago.

Is it still around?

Hi Nrg,
The store was kind of off the beaten path on 18th and Sanchez. Michael closed the store a couple of years ago. DJs like Phil B., Jerry Bonham and Steve Fabus all worked there for awhile!
