Default Aaarrrrgh! Christmas carols already!!!

Radio stations here in Pittsburgh began playing Christmas carols about a week and a half ago, well before Thanksgiving. One FM station already is carols 24/7. :o

It's gotten so bad already that in the car the other day (without any disco CDs with me!) I ended up listening to one of the guitar rock stations. I'll take "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" over Air Supply singing "Winter Wonderland" any day!

Bah humbug!

As long as they play Elmo & Patsy's "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer", it's all good wit me.

Now that's a Xmas Classic!!!

Maybe it was my repeated playings of A Partridge Family Christmas Card all those years ago that turned me into such a Scrooge...

All right, all right, I admit it... I have the damn thing on CD now too.

I'm waiting for a Reggae Country&Western Christmas CD to buy.

If you've ever been in the music biz, you'll know that for duplication plants Christmas starts in late August and if you're a choirmaster/producer, Christmas can be anytime around May or June.

Yeah tell me about it. I can't stand Christmas carols either, they are so old fashion and uncool and it makes me think of Home Alone, the whole family singing "Hallelujah", how yuck!!!

At shopping malls we cop those bloody ancient Christmas carols and it makes me wanna hurl!!! That's because they pick those really old Christmas carols and crooner carols by singers like Bing Crosby. They should play some Aussie Christmas carols like "6 White Boomers" by Rolf Harris, at least it is more bareable and maybe "Frosty The Yobbo" by Kevin Bloody Wilson that would be a cack      !!!!!

Guess you's are already copping the snow, well Australia is now copping the heatwave and we'll be getting temperatures of up to 45 degrees celsius (113 degrees Farenheit), so whilst you's will be in your wollens and thick coats we'll be stripped down to our singlets and stubby shorts and double-plugger feet thongs once again.

Last year I written a parody of that Bing Crosby "White Christmas" entitled "Aussie Christmas" as I watched it on an old Top Of The Pops episode and wanted to improve it a bit, anyways this is what an Aussie Christmas is like:

The sun is burning
The grass is dead
Singlet and stubby shorts we wear.
The weather is more than I could bear
In New South Wales, Australia.
But it’s December 25
And the temperature is way over 35. (95 deg F)

I’m having an Aussie Christmas
Just like the ones we always have.
Where our body tans glisten
Because we’re all sweatin’
To the burning sun in the sky.
I’m having an Aussie Christmas
With sweat pouring off me day and night.
Our Christmases are always hot and bright
Unlike American Christmases, they are always white

Default Christmas Spirit

Luckily, all you "people" are the minority---the Christmas haters.
It's just such a wonderful season. Let's face it, Christmas is forever; now, Disco came and went. It's sad when a "group of people's" life centers around a forum in an Internet website --- sad and pathetic. Now, what I find truly boring and repugnant is people advertising their sexual deviant behavior in a public website.

Do most of you not like Christmas music because the same songs are overplayed by so many different artists or it's simply not your taste?

Hello, Mr. Pot? This is Mr. Kettle...

Take a look at the list of authors on the first page of this forum and notice whose name shows up the most. Sad and pathetic indeed.

Even sadder and more pathetic, most of those posts have zero replies.

Oh, happy holidays from one of that "group of people"

So, to respond to your legitimate question, Nrg: What bugs me about the holiday season is that it's become such an overwhelming force. You will have a merry Christmas OR ELSE!!! And we're going to drum this music into your head to make sure your spirits are bright, dammit!!!

I certainly don't have a problem with the religious aspect of the holiday: I was raised a nice little Protestant boy with a manger under the tree, like most people, I guess. (Which reminds me: How must Jews and other non-Christians feel while all this hoopla is going on?) I might even prefer that the religious aspect of Christmas was a bigger part of the season; at least it would be a break from the rampant, unrelenting commercialism. A merry Christmas = the newe$t/bigge$t/mo$t expen$ive gift$. And stores opening at 5am on the morning after Thanksgiving??! No thanks.

Hey, maybe Christmas carols all have a subliminal message: spend money... spend money... spend money.

Just read an article about a music-supplier to Belgian stores in which it's said that a lot of the staff and consumers are tired of hearing all those christmassongs. They only play them now for a very short period (2 weeks) and only when they are fitted in songlists with other "normal" records.

I can enjoy them but during the festivities I prefer Big Band, Jazz and Sinatra and Benett, that gets me in the mood too.

And Joisey, thanks again for your uplifting views. We can learn so much from you .
