| Dutch entertainment company Endemol, who is the creator and owner of the Big Brother-concept, is constructing a whole village in Germany for a Big Brothershow that will follow his inhabitants for many years. Actually based on the "Truman show"-movie they wanna see how people behave when all of their daily stuff is broadcast in a life-time period. If everything goes well, German station RTL-2 will begin airing this in the spring of 2005. Psycholigists however are contesting this and think that if people are going to participate in this, they will get emotionally brainwashed and will have great difficulties when they have to return to the real world. My opinion: this sucks  |

| Entertainment at the expense of the participants' sanity? I agree with you... the concept SUCKS! But if you think about it, it happens all the time to celebrities. I, for one, find it wearisome being somewhat of a "celebrity" in a small town (Hartford, CT). If people are approaching ME with requests and ideas (most of 'em crazy) and even, for the occasional autograph, I feel bad for anyone of true, national fame (whether by instant exposure on TV or on their own creative merits). It came to a head when a local gossip columnist got ahold of a photograph of myself (an outspoken Republican) with a very important State-level Democrat, outside a notorious Italian restaurant with reputed "mob ties." We just like to go there to eat, but the photograph, with both of us taken aback and bleary-eyed, was just what the Dr. ordered for the left-of-liberal local paper. It caused a sensation and to this day I get idiots coming into the restaurant I own who bring that up for one reason or another. The participants in the TV program you mention, just like any musical or theatrical performer who longs for stardom, are willing to embark upon this. I am certain that the producers have warned them about the pitfalls of living life "under the microscope." Some folks can handle it, some, sadly, resort to drugs and alcohol for solace. Let's see what happens... Paul - a.k.a. Judydoggie
