Default I JUST HAVE TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU

I've just got back from a house hunting expedition in Spain (2,500 miles of driving in 12 days).

Whilst there, my wife and I had one of the weirdest, most hilarious experiences ever.

We stayed in Mojacar for 6 nights and whilst there sampled some great food from Argentinian to Italian to Spanish to...... There was an English run joint called Cowboy Cocina that served up burgers and Tex-Mex food. I had the best burger that I've eaten in the last 5 years on the first night. The only disappointment was the Country&Western music that was played in the background.
Anyhoos, I enjoyed that burger soooo much that we decided to go back on a second night. We were seated at a table right next to the bloody speakers, that were relaying what was now, slightly too loud C&W music. Oh well, that's what ya get for being unadventurous.

Halfway through the meal, a different sound came over the speakers......uh what's that.....err, ah eh erm some Reggae.....woah! wait a minute. that's NOT Reggae, it's Reggae Country&Western. We absolutely pissed ourselves laughing. I'm talking belly aches and uncontrollable sobbing with mirth. I made the comment "How did I ever get to live for 52 years, without ever hearing THAT!?" "Such an obvious combination." "Bet Jim Reeves is turning in his grave and Bob Marley too."
Neeedless to say, the whole restaurant was by now staring (and some Reggae C&W fans glaring) at us. They must have thought we'd partaken of an exotic charoot or something. The best comment came from the waitress who'd come over and asked us what was sooo funny. When we pointed out that "The Old Rugged Cross, He'll Have To Go etc" sung in Reggae Country&Western, by a West indian was an even greater mind boggling image than the Jamaican Bobsleigh team (dreadlocks shooting down in the snow, or should that be shooting up?), she got the message and said "ah yes, but you don't HAVE TO listen to it every night. Would you like to know where you can buy a copy?" We fell about laughing even more.

BTW: The burger on the second night wasn't a touch on the first one. Too dry by far.

So I take it you didn't buy a copy Quinny?

Surely music as odd as Reggae/C&W is something that has to be cherished....if not for anything else then at least for the oddity that lies within.

KBee: Now you're pulling my todger. If I had to cherish Reggae Country & Western, I'd rather be garroted.

Before, there were only two types of music I absolutely hated....Country & Western.

Now there's three. Reggae Country & Western and I heard it first in Spain!!!!!! Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Q, did you ask for the names of artist and song? So we can laugh too :D

Now speaking on behalf of my country, I just hope you had some decent "bife" (bistec) on your Argentina food night. That means gross and juicy, with a bit of cut bone on one border.

WOW!!

Reggae Country & Western: this could be the next big thing.

THE new sound we are all waiting for.

Thanx for sharing this with us Q. And think about it, when it will be big in 2005:You heard it first!

(BTW-rumours are that Bernie is working on the very first Rap Country & Western album-look out for that one!)

Nano: We both had the brocheta mixta as it was the smallest dish on the menu (twenty five years ago my wife would have had a 16oz steak, starter and dessert, but now, neither of us can eat an awful lot). She also loved the sauce that the meat was marinated in (some sorta chilli marinade) and the blue cheese accompaniment. The chips (fries) were really good too. And all served up by smiling, efficient Argentinian waiters and waitresses.

UK slang for taking the piss, or extracting the Michael. Being flippant. Telling a lie...etc.

I can just imagine the ads for Reggae C&W on TV over there now in my mind.
"Buck Marley's Rasta greatest hits. Available now in a four CD set. Listen again to "I Can't Stop Lovin' Weed", "Georgia And Spliff On My Mind", and many many more. Remember. This is not available in store."
