Boys, did you see the officiating in that Cameroon-Germany game? The Spanish referee, Nieto, seemed to think that yellow cards are the same thing as salaries....he made sure everyone had one! The worst officiating I've ever seen...even though Germany "won", with the amount of carded players they have, they are in trouble for the next game.
I don't know what the attitude is like in Brasil, but the Brasileiros here in NY are having a good laugh at France being eliminated. I'm not crying any tears over their loss: in 1998 most of the French here (and in France, I understand) didn't even follow the team until they got to the semifinal!

Boodi, here in Brazil is the same. The French team arrive to the World Cup full of arrogancy.......and game over to them.

And.....right now, Argentina is going home!!!! Well in Brazil are cheers for this, of course, they are our biggest rivals in football (soccer). I mean they were.

Peace.

Surprisingly ARGENTINA IS OUT!!!!

Nano:

I think the World Cup becomes a "TANGO" song to you, uh?

Ok, I have to admit, for Brazil aspirations this is great but, as a soccer fan like me this is not so good, you know what I mean.

Well, now Brazil is the only south american country to fight for the cup.

PRA FRENTE BRA-SIL SIL SIL!!!
(Go ahead Bra-zil zil zil!!)

Argies 1 - Sweden 0 - Argies out

I told you!
You can imagine the funeral mood of this Wednesday right here. Most of us didn't sleep (the game was form 3.30 to 5.15 AM). Of course, Bielsa's head is already next to the guillotine. But that doesn't matter now...
My prediction is a final between Brazil (you have it easy) and Italy or Germany. Now, my candidates for cheering go in this order:
a) Brazil (for history, closeness, jogo bonito, but they have to play better, Blax!)
b) Paraguay (for Chilavert and Pipino Cuevas)
c) Mexico/Costa Rica (South Americans)
d) Senegal (also Third World and I like them after all)
e) Italy or England (good teams with personalities like Owen, Beckam, etc.). They deserve to make it to "semifinal" at least.
Good luck guys! And make sure your coaches have a B Plan! (not like our Bielsa)
------------------
Last thing: Sweden beat us well, here I heard they played mediocre (with all the guys in the back) but I do remember we made it to the final in Italy '90 with that scheme (remember Caniggia's goal against Brazil? Same as here). Plus it's legal and even predictable in Sweden's case. So I will not make any excuses.
Now, back to our daily inferno in Buenos Aires...

Sorry, Blax - it was just a comparison, because that match was kind of similar with this one, but here no one remembers it because we were "Sweden" at the time And you're right, it was 1-1 (obviously my subconcious couldn't accept that we didn't win yesterday).
What about your 5-2 with Costa Rica? Seems you're on the right track now...

Well.....against Costa Rica, this result dont says nothing, you know. Here in Brazil we are quite skeptic (do I spelled right?) yet.

Let's see on the next round.

Boys, I finally got to see Kaka play versus Costa Rica, and he's not too bad! I know these young girls are wild for him, but as you know, he's not my type, nao e'? I was impressed with his creativity.
The defense needs to get it together....Belgium is not a bad side.
I hope that the US DESTROYS Mexico on Monday! Their fans in this area are unbearable...arrogance personified. All for a team that barely made it to the Cup....the manner in which the fans turned on Ojitos was awful. After Monday, let's hope they show their fangs to Aguirre.

That's how I feel about Italy. The last time they won the cup, we didn't hear the end of it for weeks (yes I still remember, which should give you an indication of how out-of-hand things got). All the more ridiculous given that most of their fans here have never even *been* to Italy...

...we might have had a similar situation with Portugal, but that's been taken care of.

Graham, you hit the nail on the head with Italy in '82. Their fans were allowed to act up like fools here in NYC that summer.
When Brasil won in '94, the police were fairly laissez-faire. As the '98 Cup progressed, however, the NYC cops became a real pain: stopping street celebrations, making Brasileiros remove flags from theor car hoods because it would "impede their driving" (verbatim quote). A double standard, indeed.
But MEXICO....yeesh! Their fans parade around as if the Cup is already won.
