I do wish soccer/football was more popular here in the US. An exciting game that gets no coverage because we already have our 'football'. Of course, our feet rarely touch the ball but what's in a name?

Indeed they must! However it was a pretty close game but since Beckham apparantly can't handle the pressure of scoring a penalty, it couldn't go any other way.
Congratulations to the hosts for making it to the semi-final! :)

But you wouldn't want all the crap that goes with it.
Football is hyped out of all proportion and footballers are treated as gods. How absurd. The whole circus is an obscene merry-go-round of greed and more greed (just like American Football and Basketball, eh?), machismo beyond belief and little boys acting like little boys pretending to be men.
Give me Rugby or Cricket any day. At least they haven't been completely spoilt by money, yet.

I'm glad England are out of the European Cup. They haven't played one decent game (the midfielders all need shooting) and although robbed of a goal last night, on balance the better team won.

Saw Portugal vs. England last night and certainly it was a great match. Goalkeeper Ricardo went out with all the hurras, catching the ball in the last England penalty and then executing the last one for his team himself! Another Chilavert!
Much as I love England in the art department, I cannot deny I'm glad they bited the dust in football :)
Now I plan to see France Vs. Greece. But Portugal is already my team!
