| I don't have and don't want a mobile phone. If I did, I'd have the standard ringtone......just to be different. Did you see the programme the other day where it was stated that ringtones are now outselling actual CDs? It's huge business apparently. |

| Seeing as I like being discrete and hate it when cell phones ring in public, I have mine set to "vibrate" instead. Nonetheless, my new Motorola phone does have the capability to play MP3s as ringtones so it is quite tempting to create a nice loop of something unique for those situations where a ring might be necessary. We'll see if I cave in. :-)

| Do-Mi-So, a simple, spacey and relatively non-irritating standard Nokia ringtone. Despite the fact that I'm a mobile phone freak, I have almost no interest in ringtones. My next phone will likely allow MP3 ringtones, in which case I'll record my ancient Nortel landline phone which has a real ringer. And I too have read that kids will pay more for a ringtone of the latest hit song than they will for the actual CD. But then again, they can always download the song for free -- I guess ringtones are a little harder to come by on KaZaa. |

| I'm with Bernie on this. My cell phone is set to vibrate. I've always hated the needless cell rings from other people's phone in public. Not to mention, it always seemed so pretentious to me. The ringtone I'd really like to get for my house phone is what I heard in the In Like Flint movies. I love that, to-du-doo to-du-doo to-du-doo to-du-doo to-du-doo.

| Don't know what any of you are talking about since I don't have a mobil phone. I refuse to be one of the thousands walking/driving/fucking around with a cell phone in my ear. Now I will sometimes put music on my answering machine. Haven't even done that in a long while. Always something slinky like Azizi. 8) |

| Ringtones are, well, the tones that the phone makes when it rings. These have evolved from simple, monophonic melodies to MIDI sequences and now to full MP3 files. It is now the height of coolness to have one's phone play the latest hit tune instead of merely making some sort of electronic bleating sound. This sort of thing is much bigger in Europe than here for a number of reasons: - a higher percentage of the population has and uses mobile phones, and upgrades/updates them on a faster basis - the networks are more advanced and offer a lot more add-on services - all the networks run the same standard (GSM), unlike here where we are split up between GSM, CDMA, iDEN, and the ancient AMPS standards. |

In Europe (well, certainly the UK) even 7 year old kids have mobile phones with their own account. I'd like to shoot some parents!! |

| I have a mobile for almost 8 years now and I bought it to be able to make a phone-call when in trouble and when necessary. I always used it for that purpose and now I'm tired of the thing. Everybody now is calling everywhere everytime and I get very annoyed by this. And when you listen to their conversations (not difficult because they are usually shouting at their devices) it doesn't make sense. 99% of the calls really are stupid and useless. Ringtones are big business here just like wallpapers and accessories. Mine just is the standard one which makes it unique  and in fact it's a polyphonic R&B-tune and i quite like it: smooth and relaxing. |

| You may as well change every year in the UK cos if you stay on contract there's no incentive to keep your phone, no discount or anything  So anyway i've just got one of those new Nokia 6230 that can play Mp3's :D No more polyphonic tunes that sound nothing like :-? It also links to the computer and you can download any of your music from the computer onto the phone & use it as your ringtone (sad really ) but just had to link it up to the computer & test it out :o And to answer the original question i 'm using "Jean Knight - Mr Big Stuff" as i thought the intro was quite suitable as o ring tone. Anybody got any suggestions as to what song intro's will make a good tone And before people have a go i always always always turn it to silent/vibrate mode in restaurants, cinemas etc Yours Stan :D :D :D ps my other fav ring tone is Eminem.............................. .................................................. ............................... .................................................. ................................ .................................................. ................................ .................................................. ......... ...."STAN" of course

| Oh my god darlings (to quote BB's Marko) I totally agree with Quinney ( :o ) & Nicky that mobile phones are the invention of the devil himself. I sometimes feel like I'm the only person left in the world who doesn't use a mobile phone. My boyf bought me one for Xmas a couple of years ago & I've never used it; it just sits in my work bag so its battery is permanently flat! My worst nightmare is being contactable by all & sundry at any time anywhere :x When I go out it's to get away from everyone!!! :P I s'pose they're useful if you work 'on the move' like prostitutes or something. :-?

| I agree that cell phones are extremely annoying at times. THAT's why we have voice-mail! My ring-tone, when I choose to have it on, is the theme from "I Love Lucy." I instruct the servers in our two restaurants never, ever to even speak to someone who's on a cell phone call; and to seat the other parties waiting first. You can plan the rest of your night when you get to your table. We also have live music at one of our venues and every once in a while we get someone who's too cool for himself whose phone is ringing and who is constantly having a conversation, during a live musical performance. After 20 minutes, we stop the show, walk over to the guy with the phone, mic him AND the phone and that's when the fun starts! You'd really be surprised what goes out over the P.A. I told one young man's girlfriend that he was upstaging the talent and she said that HE was talented so we invited him onstage where he made a fool of himself and was saved... when his cell phone rang! I think that cell phones are indispensable safety devices. But by all means, don't use 'em in theatres, restaurants, and unless you're really good at it, refrain from talking and driving a car. DO use a cell phone when on a walk in the woods and thinking about one you love -- call 'em up and TELL THEM. DO use a cell phone when meditating about a transgression you've committed against another -- call 'em up and SAY YOU'RE SORRY. ENTER THE NUMBERS OF ALL OF THE PEOPLE YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD CALL MORE OFTEN IN YOUR SPEED DIAL -- now there's no excuse not to CALL THEM MORE OFTEN, if only to say "I'm on my cell phone and the minutes are expensive, but I wanted to say hello and tell you I love you."
