| My teacher's 37th birthday is next friday and we are having a party for him in school. I will like to buy something for him ($50.00 & under) but I don't have a clue as to what I should get him. Here is a small description of him: 1.Favorite colors: Red,Orange,Yellow and Lime 2.He lives alone 3.He's offbeat, fun, lively very artsy (fashion design professor) 4.Travels all over the globe 5.Likes unusual things from foreign countries and flea markets 6.Italian 7.Likes to dine out a lot 8.Romantic and sub-titled movies 9.Entertaining guests 10.Likes to cook but he's watching his weight 11.Likes wine or Pelligrino with his dinner My class had a gift potty floating around unfortunately we haven't been successful with that. So I figured that maybe I can get him something on my own. Any suggestion would be very helpful!!!! *DELIGHTFUL* [ This Message was edited by: HustleBaby on 2002-03-19 21:35 ] |

| Well Delight. There are 2 things I know he would like. One is sharing your taste for disco with him. Perhaps a nice compilation cd. The other I will leave to your imagination ;) |

| HustleBaby--Here are some suggestions that I hope you might take into consideration. If you're on 5th Avenue, check out Pier 1 Imports. Believe it or not, you can get some really nice things at a good price. Even if it means getting him, say, a nice large dinner plate, I'm sure he'd like that. I would suggest another store called "The Pottery Barn" but I don't know if there are any in the city and they are are very expensive. If not that, try The Cellar at Macy's. They have a lot of items there that I know are under $50. Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you find!!

| well..a few suggestions. 1) If he likes lime and orange colors { Lime is my fave } it is very polically correct yet still fun to make an exoctic citrus fruit basket...the Italian "blood" oranges are in the market now { fairway, food emporium etc have these} as are clementines { which i love } limes etc etc. You can throw in chocolate covered orange peel etc { Neuchatel in the Plaza has } some fancy cookies etc 2) as he is Italian, he may be christian, and you can get some great Easter food gifts from william - sonoma or Lilac had dipped candies on Christopher st, and now in GCntral food market ...which is also a good place to go 3) Rizzoli bookstore on 57th is Italian { good } + has great fashion books..get a gift receipt in case he all ready has the book. Buy a book on a particular designer he likes , or a theme. 4) this weeks NY magazine lists a great downtown home store that carries gifty items arrnaged by color....look for the photo of all the shades of lime green glassware arranged togehter..i forget the name now. 5) great store MXYPLYX for funky gifts on greenwich and hudson 6)great store Delphinium on 46th and 9th also for funky gifts lastly...go on easy on the money..it's the thought that counts. as u may be creative, hand made cards etc say alot more than a fancy, expensive gift { which is potentially awkward . out of curiousity...where do u go to school ? FIT ?
