Default What's with "paranormal activity"?

A few weeks back in San Francisco I tried to go and see a film called "Paranormal Activity" in vain a few times, every performance was always sold out. The word of mouth had it it's about the most frightening thing since The Exorcist. Steven Spielberg was quioted of saying he could not sit thru it, too shocking. The "Adviosry for parents" section st IMDB warned that patrons are likely to feel extreme discomfort and nausea wall thru it. I was feeling very anxious: need to see this frightfest as soon as possible!

Well, the 1st local screening was yesterday night, following big promo hype: the number one film in the USA, one of the most intense films ever made! Having just sat thru the genuinely scary "Descent Part 2" I had my hopes high, despite the fact that the film had been given a suspiciously low age limit by our board of film classification. What flickered across the screen must be one of the absolute lamest things masquerading as a horror film in history. The only reaction from the packed house was after the final not-so-horrifying sequence when the lights came up: was THAT the end, was that all there was? People left pissed off having been conned to pay 11 euros to see a halloween treat that would not scare a 5 year old. I was certain somehow they had done the reverse and edited the film for the European markets, recutting it for something suitable for the whole family. But no, what we saw was the original cut. AVOID!

OMG .. My man took me to see that MESS last night and is was HORRIBLE,people in the audience were laughing and with good reason,The only freaky thing was when she stood over him for what looked to be a couple of hours as they showed the time elapse and when the sheet blew up like something was crawling under it.The guy in the movie had some pretty witty lines like when his girl was being a bitch and he told her "Why dont you go upstairs and hang out with your friend" WE WERE DYING LAUGHING.
When the lights came on Jeff and I were like HUH~!!
I am so ready for The Decent 2 but it's not here yet.

It's announced here as the hottest thing since the "Blair Witch Project". BTW "The Exorcist" is my favourite comedy of all times. Hilarious movie!

that's why I pay absolutely no attention to reviews......remember someone's being paid to write them. I READ reviews sometimes but I'm never ever influenced by them. None of the hype about "This is It" is moving me either.....I'll wait until the local bootleg man sells it for a buck.

The only bootleg dvd I ever bought ( almost only) is out now: Ken Russell's 1971 outrage THE DEVILS with the legendary rape of Christ sequence intact. Check it out, it's all there. The film is an extremely well made, mad mega-budget historical extravaganza with hysterically contorting possessed nuns, grotesque violence, excessive nudity and sets by Derek Jarman. In 1971 it scarred my psyche for life and happily, the film itself has lost none of it's power. Far be it from me to suggest anyone to go out and get a bootleg but as Warners reportedly will not be realising the Devils ever, what else can we do?
