| Hi Jussi, I couldn't find the thread where you asked the question about how we gay-boys felt about this movie. I rented it just to find out. One word: BORED. It's a really lousy action flick and despite Mr. Statham constantly removing his shirt  it didn't do a thing for me. Homoerotic? I guess so, especially the "sucking air underwater" scene but I sure wouldn't call it a gay flick, not even a closeted one. There is one scene I'd like explained or maybe I'm misinterpreting. The thug who wants him killed because he 'opened the package' hands him a payoff to transport something back. When he passes him the envelope with the money I could swear he caressed Statham's gloved hand. Did I imagine this or what the hell was I looking at? If I saw what I saw, then THAT would be a subtle message for us Wild Ones. |

| Hmmmm...bored you were then, Wild One -? Well, might I suggest action of another kind. 8 WOMEN by gay stylist Francois Ozon is out now on dvd. This is a bizarre camp melodrama/murder mystery with musical interludes. Eight ladies, Catherine Deneuve and Fanny Ardant included, find themselves deserted in a stately country mansion where a murder has taken place. All of the women have something to hide and burst into song at inappropriate moments. The colour palette is stunning, the fashions fab 50's/60's retro and Fanny Ardant does a semi-strip tease while singing "Can't Give You Anything But My Love" by The Stylistics. Almodovar meets Douglas Sirk. All the gay guys here rave about this. - "Wild One"...that title sure brings back a memory. I think I have mentioned a while ago that we did a Tom of Finland party here a couple of years ago. A Durk-whatshisname from Los Angeles, the president of the Tom of Finland society, arrived to open the exhibit. It appeared he had directed a film called The Wild Ones, and as a friend happened to own a copy we thought it would be appropriate to ask Durk if we could project the work to the wall at the gala reception, for the town council, the mayor and his wife and other guests to view. Of course the thing turned out to be not "erotic" as the mate had described it, but porn of the raunchiest kind. Fistfucking and beyond. I had to run off the premises to howl with laughter after witnessing the reactions. So, what I'm saying, maybe you should rent THE WILD ONES and not 8 WOMEN, after all ! :P |
