Friends who saw this in Cannes reported the film is pure perfection, a masterpiece of auteurist cinema, a labour of love. It's made for the true fans who understand, the rest do not need to. And the film's got skullcrushing baseball bat violence!

If you can, check out the original 70s "Inglorious Bastards" (unrelated to this film). It's full of co-production cheesiness, cheapness and fun!

Yes, I posted the poster of the original one but Tinypic axed it as indecent.

Like Boodi says, Tarantino took it as a starting point but his movie is completely different:

So, what did you all think? I was in awe. The long conversation sequences like that around the table in the cellar with Bridget von Hammersmark, colonel Hans Landa, the Bastards members and the drunk soldiers are stupendously orchestrated, tightening the screw with a masterful grip. The direction and the editing is superb. Loved everything about the film. The eccentric Morricone&Moroder music score is amazing. Antonio Marghereti got a hommage by Eli Roth, as did Edwige Fenech by Mike Myers as general Ed Fenech. There was even a brief quest appearance by the immortal icon Enzo G Castellari himself. A masterpiece. Going to see it again tonight.
