Default Congrats!!!!!

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for being able to wipe the floor with The Oakland Raiders in yesterday's NFL Super Bowl. I sat up all night watching it & I'm still amazed of Tampa's defensive skill. :o

The best team most certainly one this time. (no offense Raiders fans ). the whole season's just been amazingly exciting.

Default Warning: RANT AHEAD!

OK America, you may more or less rule the world but calling the Superbowl a World Championship, and calling the Tampa team World Champions is really too much.

For something to be a World Championship, wouldn't it make sense that teams from ALL OVER THE WORLD actually participated. In that respect even cricket, rugby and curling pass the test... but American Football - I don't think so! The Buccaneers - USA Champions! AND! NOTHING! ELSE!

And another thing... have you seen the Buccaneers website? If you have the Flash plug-in it will show you how the ship from the Buccaneers shoots and sinks the other team's ship. Nice non-violent content for all those underage fans... not even to mention the current world situation...

Finally, any sports that allows more padding than the average army commando soldier would wear in times of war is either a sport for wimps or is not fit to be played 'coz it's too dangerous.

Phew... I feel so much better now

PS I read even the ads this year were 'mwoah'

Maarten: about the buccaneers site. didn't you notice that they've made flash movies for every game of the season.
no wonder it had to culminate in something very patriotic and almost "war zone" like material.

raiders didn't make anything at all on their site. Guess they knew what was gonna happen

Bucs as world champions?? - you're right it sounds wrong. Guess no one would call Bayern M¸nchen world champions for winning the Bundesliga.
NFL's a US national thing (we do have NFL Europe over here, though. The season's starting soon but by channels are airing it....Typical  :x

They wear the padding 'cos otherwise there would be very few fit players left by the end of the season. American Football was once the single most dangerous sport in the world, with many fatalities. I used to think they were wimps until I got involved with my local English team in the early '80s. Those guys used to get hurt....real bad.
Rugby players even 'pad up' these days, although not to the same extent and cricketers wear more padding than ever before. Whether or not the extra padding leads to more of a 'devil may care' attitude, thus making attempts at calming things futile, is a mattter of conjecture.
I personally reckon that wide receivers are among the most athletic people in the world and their strength is amazing.

Apart from Mel & Tim - Backfield In Motion, the Chicago Bears in '85? with their rap 'Superbowl Shuffle' and Michael Henderson? - Wide Receiver in 1980, anyone know of any other American Football associated Disco/Dance tunes?

Deion Sanders made an hip-hop influenced album in 1995.

It on my top list of worst albums of the decade. even Shag's is a genius copmared to what Sanders had to offer.
he really had no clue, but then again, he suddenly played Baseball too :-? :x
