I was disappointed with last nights choices. I like Vanessa, but I thought Samantha Cohen should have been the other finalist.

BTW, I hated Equoia's version of "The Way We Were".

I missed all of the Tuesday competition, except for the last guy who sang a Righteous Brothers song. It's "Pilot Season"--we be busy.

Consequently, I didn't much care about who got in last night. Why didn't the Bette Midler-ish Vanessa get to sing her song last night? Because they gave her allotted time to Kelly & Justin's "love theme"???? I'm getting sorta bored with this show. Maybe when we get to full-on competition. it'll get more interesting.

I don't trust "America" to vote for the best ones.

Did anyone see the "Best Of The Worst" special last night? I was really glad to see the funniest part of the show again. To me that was the best part of "American Idol". That guy who "sang" "Like A Virgin" took the cake. He was so horrible it was hilarious.

Well, I saw last night's competition (2/25) and the only 2 that seemed worthy of getting a chance to move on were the marine and the last guy (Clay?) who sang that "Foolish Heart" song. Clay was the best....the rest of the contestants were mostly not-so-hot...and the attitude thrown back at the judges after they get criticized is getting a tad over-the-top!!!! (Especially one black chick who was soooo foul and clueless about how weak she was, I hope she gets voted off the island immediately!!!)

Confidence is one thing. When you're clueless about how mediocre you are, it's just sad.

Are we "in agreeance" (gawd bless Fred Durst's pointed little illiterate head) that the newfound sassy back-talking mouthyness and in-your-face ATTITUDE of this year's "American Idol" contestants is gonna hurt them more than help?

I'm just askin'????

I saw very little of last night's episode, but from what I did see only the Marine was a good singer in my opinion. I thought the blonde woman's singing was annoying, and I didn't care for the last contestant either (to me nobody can make a Journey song sound good). I wonder how long the Marine will be able to participate should he advance due to what might happen soon. Like he said, his job is to fight for his country. As for who in thie round will advance, we'll found tonight.

I 've missed the past three shows but I was able to catch tonight's show. I had a feeling that the Marine would have been chosen. The second runner up (in brown) was always a good singer but acted foolishly. I remember the Rocker having a good voice but his looks will hold him back. Once again someone put Simon in his place :D .

I wonder what the big surprise next week will be?

Frenchy's allowed back in the competition?

Keith comes on to sing "Material Girl"?

Kelly Clarkson announces she's pregnant with Justin's baby?

Tune in next week.

I see nothing wrong with that rocker guy's image. He looks like he belongs in a death metal band, but at least he's original. Surely Simon can't expect every singer to have a squeaky-clean image. As for that guy's singing, I can't give an opinion since I missed his turn. What I don't understand is that he won't be in the wild card part of the show despite being in the top three last night (I gather that Simon doesn't like his singing either). I thought that all of the third-place finishers would be competing for the wild card spots.

As for Frenchie getting booted from the show, I don't understand why. I heard that at the time she was involved with that website it was for lingerie, and she was a model of theirs. It was after she left that it became a porn site. And what if she had done porn? It shouldn't make a difference. I think that she was one of the best contestants of the show, and that she got screwed.

And that's cool that the "Best Of The Worst" episode will be rebroadcast. The singers in that segment are certainly the most entertaining of the bunch.

I agree completely, NRG. I've liked Clay from the beginning for the same reason.

After last night's two-hour marathon (Fox is gonna squeeze every possible ratings point out of this sucker; it's a good thing Fox airs only two hours in prime time or I'm sure we'd have to sit through a three-hour show), I think it's easier at this point to say who impressed me, rather than try to rank all 12.

I liked Joshua, Kimberly Caldwell, Clay, Ruben and Trenyce--even if she did have trouble with her lyrics. But I tried to keep in mind that I've known these Motown classics all my life; these kids might be singing them for the first time.

I was NOT impressed with Kimberley, Charles (weak voice), goofy Rickey, Julia and squeaky Corey. As Marky said in an earlier post, the attitude some of these contestants are trying to throw back at Simon is even more forced than some of their performances; Julia's snotty remark is a good example of this.

Rickey's loveable (?) goofiness and Corey's bad boy rep will spare them for a while, so I'll go out on a limb and guess that the first casualty will be Kimberley or Julia, or one of the two performers who didn't make much of an impression on me either way last night, Vanessa and Carmen.

Jeffy,

I'd say the weakest performance last night was by Charles Grigsby who sorta just "got through" "How Sweet It Is". I never understood how he made the final cut in the first place.

I liked Clay, the blonde Kimberly Caldwell, Ruben, Trenyce and Corey (sorry Jeff, I think his voice is good) from last night's performances. At least, that's the way I recall it.

Didn't Ricky miss the opening line of "1-2-3"? No one said anything, but I thought he didn't sing the opening line...then caught up on the second line. Also, did Holland-Dozier-Holland write "1-2-3" (the old Len Barry hit from 1965)? If so, I didn't know that...or else forgot. That song wasn't on Motown.

Some of the kids were rather good (finding ways to put their own stamp on the vocals), but most were just passable. I certainly missed the original voices of Levi Stubbs, Martha Reeves, Marvin Gaye and MISS ROSS, of course.

I wonder what Lamont Dozier (guest panelist) really thought.

You're right, Marky: Charles is certainly another good candidate for getting the boot tonight.

I wondered about Rickey's opening on "1-2-3" as well; since none of the judges mentioned it, I just assumed it was a microphone/sound glitch. And I wondered about the song too: I didn't think it was on Motown and/or written by Holland-Dozier-Holland...?

As for what Lamont Dozier really thought: Royaltie$, baby, royaltie$!

I thought Charles had the weakest performance and will probably get the boot.

I'm not crazy about Ruben, but most people seem to like him. :-?

Well , Vanessa , the Bette Midlerish "fag hag" type, got the boot last night. I think she was undermined by that lame-ass bit they did with her on Tuesday night's show, wherein Miss Ryan asked her to read the promo to the break, and she flippantly replied "I'm an artist...I don't perform on cue like you, monkey-boy" or something to that effect. The audience went...''oooooohhh" as in "get her!!!!"

After the break, Miss Ryan explained that that bit was scripted and Vanessa wasn't tossin' tude...just following the script, but, as is usually the case, a lotta people seemed to have missed the "explanation". On talk radio yesterday, folks were saying she deserved to be booted because of her "TUDE"!!!! DUH!!!!!

She was set up!!!! She should join Frenchy and sue their asses for makin' her act a fool. No one else was asked to diss Miss Ryan and face the wrath of dim-witted America!!!

Anyone else notice this?????? I'm just askin'.

Cause, face it, it was really Charles who shoulda got booted. Charles wasn't even in the bottom 3!!!!!!!!
