| THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN from GB is the most brilliant comedy series ever, amen. The Christmas Special is pure twisted genius. I leave it to others to try and describe the concept adequately. THE ROYLE FAMILY coach potato saga is another milestone - pray the Americans don't go ahead with their doomed-to-be-crap watered down version. I want to see Baby David grow up. And we need still more Edina & Patsy. |

| Some names I haven't seen mentioned here yet--and some of the performers who make me laugh most--are female comics (is this an extension of the gay disco diva fascination??!) like Margaret Cho, Rita Rudner (where has she been?) and Caroline Rea. OK, Caroline Rea is getting a bit mainstream now, what with the appearances on Hollywood Squares and preparing to take over for Big Rosie, but a comment of hers did make me laugh out loud on the bus recently: Asked by People magazine who the hottest male celebrity is, she answered, "Benicio Del Toro, which, incidentally, is Spanish for 'he wants me.'" Even if I don't agree with her taste in men, I love smart, subtle humor like this. OK, so who do you think is the hottest celebrity...? |

| Last evening, I was reminded of another person who always cracks me up: Bonnie Hunt. She was briefly a talking head in the HBO "Project Green Light" episode airing this week. Bonnie only made one short appearance, but her wisecrack had me laughing out loud. If there is any personality who deserves a talk show of their own it's Bonnie Hunt. She's one of the great guests on any talk show--amazing rapport with David Letterman, Jay Leno, and especially with Tom Snyder on his now defunct late night show. Tom often had Bonnie as a guest and she always had Tom and the audience in hysterics with her stories about life in Chicago, her family, life in LA, show biz, etc. She is a treasure.

| Mark, I agree with you about Bonnie Hunt. She has that dry, smart wit. As for her and Letterman, don't forget her short lived sitcom came from Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants. |
