I finally saw the two episodes and agree Jordin was the performance of the night! I thought boring Phil was the most improved contestant, and the best of the men - he was good, but as for the other guys, instantly forgettable performances. I can see why Sanjaya went home - he was dreadful. Melinda was her usual brilliant self but I think needs to raise her game again as Jordin is coming up fast on the rails.

Thought the show was boring last night. I'd say Chris should go tonight, but who knows how the voting will go.

Then I switched to DWTS and saw Heather Mills do her last dance. Back to England sweetie. Bye-Bye.

I'm thinking that LaKisha is the one leaving tonight. Just as I thought from the start, she wowed everyone with her kick-ass Dreamgirls number and has never been able to come close to it again. She reminds me of a good friend of mine....she has the voice but I don't think she has that incessant ambition to go farther with it.

And although I do like Jordin, I was surprised that the judges praised her as much as they did last night. I thought she had some pitchy moments in her performance and felt she was really pushing the limits of her vocal ability. Melinda, on the other hand, has vocals as smooth as silk. She doesn't make you uncomfortable wondering if she's going to hit that note.

Can a show be sued for airing under false pretenses .... for not delivering as promised ???

This bait and switch tactic to trick people to watch a telethon .....
(regardless of cause) ..... and then not fulfill the original claimed purpose of the show ....

And what they did to Jordon was obscene ....


I'm thru with it ... don't like being manipulated ....
... what's left is barely worth watching anyway ...


Why doesn't the producer just donate ALL the profits from this season's show to his cause ... (!!!!)

he's made TONS enough already off seasons past. ..... probably even has vacation beach property in South Africa ....

All I can think about is how Adorable David Schwimmer looked and that he could actually dance...........and Remicks your right What they did to Jordan was wrong.
and 2 go home next week.. as much as I hate to think it, Lakisha and Phil "no surprize about Phil" will probably be saying bye bye..when it should be Chris and Phil..The young girls vote for Chris because he's cute.. not because he can sing well.

As you know, we poor Brits have to wait till Friday for the first airing on American Idol and this week we got three hours worth. The show is intermingled with banal comments from Cat Deeley, a pretty but too sweet & sugary presenter so that we don't get too see the telephone numbers.

I thought the first hour was a good show. I think Chris, Lakisha and Blake were 'average, Phil was actually quite good and if he can get over his 'personality issues' (i.e. lack of personality) he could make the top three.

It was good to see an appearance from Earth Wind & Fire, I did fall asleep for an hour of it, soon after Ben Stiller made his appearance, unfortunately I did catch a bit of Bono but thought Annie was amazing. It was very cruel what they did to Jordin - she's only 17 for pity's sake!!

Last night was Phil and Chris' turn to go. I would have preferred to see Jordan go. I hope she doesn't make it into the top two.

Next week's mentor is Barry Gibb. Anything is better than Bon Jovi, how un-melodic can you get?

I'm sorta shocked that Phil & Chris were sent packing--cuz that's exactly who I woulda sent home. My "simpatico" with the Idol voters rarely happens anymore--but this time they got it right...next to go...probably LaKisha---then we have the final 3 I predicted awhile back.

I give credit to Blake for attempting "You Should Be Dancing", but the second song was awful and the beat boxing is getting tired.

Jordin was actually the best of the three women last night. I was really disappointed in Melinda who usually raises the bar.

I'll predict Blake to go tonight.

Sitting thru one helluva boring hour of Idol last night, I have to wonder just how many of us out there are increasingly frustrated with the direction television has gone. There was a time when you sat down to watch a show and in that time, you accepted the three or four commercials in between every 5 or 6 minutes. These days, it's anywhere between 10 to 15 commercials and, in the case of Idol, you have product promotion within the show as well!

Last night, we had to sit thru a friggin' movie trailer for the Fantastic Four movie coming this summer. It has absolutely nothing to do with American Idol except snag the viewership attention to their forthcoming movie...ahh, these marketing teams certainly sniff out an opportunity anywhere they can. And of course there's the clever Ford commercials that use the contestants in their ads and "make sure you catch all your favourite idols in the Ford commercials on the AI website".

I thought it interesting that even Ryan Seacrest seemed a bit embarassed and apologetic that nothing had really happened on the show for the first half hour. You really have to wonder where all this pushy, shameless product-plugging is leading us.

(hmmm....maybe I should write a book on the subject and send a copy to Oprah....)
