American Idol Season 6 - 2007

My pick for who will get kicked off tonight is Phil Stacey.

I actually liked Blake's performance last night and I don't usually like him.

I would agree that it is Phil's turn to go if the Sanjaya Monster gets thru again--and I'm sure he will. Otherwise, Haley....or maybe Gina--she was good but her weeks are numbered.

Melinda was best for me--Jordin & LaKisha were close runnerups--Blake & Chris R. were at the top of their game also.....leaving the 4 in my first paragraph to sweat it out....OK NOT SANJY---he's America's snarky camp scamp champ at the moment. I foresee a career for him on some Disney channel program for tweens [THAT'S SO SANJAYA" anyone???!!!] --he does have balls and he's workin' it for every ounce of publicity he can get....I no longer feel sorry for him--he's in over his head yet still having a good time, or so it seems. I do wonder how the others treat him....resentment would seem to be building among the more talented---if he outlasts them, it could get ugly in the Idol house.... Hmmmmm?????

Last night was Gina's turn to go. She wasn't the best singer, but there was something likeable about her.

Sanjaya keeps finding ways to stay in the competition. Last night's performance wasn't horrible but leaned more towards a solid performance.

Chris R. & Haley went south...

I liked Blake's performance. I'm not as impressed with LaKisha and Melinda as I was early on. When LaKisha performs all I see is flab and big boobs. She should try pole dancing.

Looks like Sanjy is going to be around another week.

Since it's no longer clear or doesn't really matter what the "American Idol" should be ( grey haired? ... fat ? ....nerdy? ... mother? .... country? ) .......... I find Sanjaya's rise to stardom to be the best result of the system ....young dreamy schoolgirls need their Sanjayas far more than the rest of the world needs any of the rest of them ......

I suppose you're right. A few weeks ago you had mentioned Sanjaya's appeal and I pretty well thought you were out to lunch on that but now I see your point.

Though Simon Cowell keeps on about AI being a singing competition, American audiences are starting to show that it really isn't....this must frustrate the hell out of him. The show's dynamics this year are interesting because it started out flawed and bland compared to last year's competition and players. The Sanjaya-thing has been this year's drawing card (certainly not mine) and I imagine the show's producers are quite relieved to be so lucky. I do think that if Sanjaya actually ended up the winner, the show would lose an incredible amount of credibility from its consistent viewership and, again, the producers are probably aware of that too so I can't see them letting this go on much longer....likely the week after the big show they have planned on the 24th.

Ahh....the power of manipulating the masses....is it because I'm older and wiser or has society always been this way?

Word is that American Idol's ratings are declining from week to week this year as the Sanjaya controversy alienates viewers. They still have enough viewers to be on top of the Nielsons-- but are down from the season opener and from this point in last year's contest.

Bye, Bye Haley....you surely deserved to go [ given her strategy of showing more skin each successive week--next week she'd have to perfom in a bikini-- pasties and whip cream the following week!!! ....Nosferatu/Batboy Phil is probably next.....the rumor is that Sangy came in 5th this week....so maybe there's hope that his turn will come in the next 2 or 3 weeks.....

The show this year peaked for me with the Bassey (British) Invasion show--that was my fave so far--the last 2 have been merely ok--- it seems the crop of singers this year is severely flawed--the best singers are kinda dumpy/ dowdy looking and the rest are merely ok/competent singers....this may be the year of Blake--the Justin Timberlake wannabe.....or maybe Jordin cuz she's only 17---but the best singer--Melinda--doesn't seem to have the "charisma" to win and seems like a "mom" compared to the others.....but then I never woulda thunk Taylor Hicks woulda won last year.....although that now seems like a mistake the public is proving by igging his record and supporting the non-winner Chris Daughtry's release....

You noticed he hasn't once mentioned the "WOW" factor this time? ..... That's because none of them have it .....The closest is Sanjaya ..... boy if he only had the voice to match those teeth !! And that adorable "first time" mustache !

I think he could/should win and it would be OK within the cosmos . It was OK for a silver haired dufus the last time .....

If the ratings are down its for every reason except Sanjaya ..... after all if the show felt that way .... would Ryan have used him to hold interest in the last twenty minutes of last night's show with his Stand -up / Sit down Sanjaya routine ...

I remember past seasons comparing singers by who gave me the most goosebumps ... still waiting for that .....
Blandness runs amuck this season .... Jenifer Lopez ( no one picked any of her songs to perform ) .... Gwen Steponallofus ....Tony Bennett ... Miss Ross was their highest prize and they used her much too soon and then she was much too .................bland ....herself.....

I can't see that many artistes from this year releasing albums and selling loads of them (like last year). Me thinks Simon has stretched himself too much and taken his eye off the ball in terms of choosing the right people to perform on the show.

Headlamp...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you hear Jordin belt out the country song Broken Wing....an incredible performance! I still think Melinda is the topnotch professional and certainly will look for her album when its released but I think it's going to come down to a duel between these two.

I also have started to like Blake's performances. He reminds me a lot of Andy Bell of Erasure....loads cuter though!

As well, I'm thinking Martina McBride's performance last night is going to catapult her to new heights. Her song Anyway is a scorcher and no doubt is already being sought out by the masses who heard it last night. She sang it live and showed the world her fantastic vocals.

Even more SHOCKING than Sanjaya being sent packing at long last--was seeming favorite BLAKE in the bottom 3---BELOW nasal-toned ["it's his STYLE" ya know]--- Chris!!!! What's up with the voters????

I have pegged Blake & Jordin & Melinda for the final 3---LaKisha seems to be vulnerable now & Phil was lucky on country week--BUT CHRIS should be next to go based on his performance Tuesday....
