| Hey Outsider, Jeff spoke for both of us. I liked the fact that Rob Halford came out (a lotta heavy metal types would fit right in at any leather bar on a Saturday night). The Styx lead singer was Dennis DeYoung--that was a surprise to me, but good for him. And lastly, I was encouraged that "Wayne's World" showed that carful of young, well, I guess, aging slacker/metalhead types nodding their heads in unison to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". Freddie died of AIDS--he didn't admit he had the disease until,I think, the day before he died. That's sad, but he did what he felt he had to do. So sad to be "livin' in shame". That young kids still get off to Queen's music is a nice sign that maybe that perceived homophobia in hard rock/metal circles is, perhaps, a little less ingrained in the new generation than in those of the past. Hmmm...well, maybe.

| Hey Marky. I know what you mean about those Judas' who prey on the group society views them a part of. I really think Larry Elder is one of those in the African-American community though I suspect he would be insulted if anyone called him that. Larry by the way is a talk show host on LA's KABC. This brings me to my question to you. Have you ever heard of Al Rantel. He's a conservative gay talk show host on KABC. If so, what is your take on him?

| Hey Paul, Yeah, I know both those guys. I used to be a big talk-radio junkie (before discomusic.com)...no, really, when Michael Jackson (NOT the King Of Pap) was on KABC, I listened on a daily basis. Then Dennis Prager, that holier-than-thou, sanctimonious conservative took over and I could no longer listen. I used to hear Larry later in the afternoon and I've heard Al Rantel in the car sometimes. I'm embarassed to say that I think Al is kinda good-looking, but I can't listen to that Log Cabin Republican shit. I mean, how can you support a political party that does not want to even admit you exist? Remember when Bob Dole returned the Log Cabin cash contribution to his campaign? What kind of self-loathing cretin do you have to be, to support a party that is repulsed by your existence? I mean, they'll take your vote only cause it's done in the privacy of a voting booth, but are loathe to accept your MONEY, (and remember we're talkin' POLITICIANS), cause it would look bad to certain elements of the party. I think Jerry Falwell & Pat Robertson's evil, vitriolic banter after Sept. 11, blaming gays, feminists and all those nasty liberals for somehow allowing Bin Laden to carry out his evil deeds, doomed their cause, at least, at this time. The sheer idiocy of their arguments cost them dearly in terms of support, although the Christian Coalition seems to be on it's last legs, anyway. But, I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that conversation replayed. And, I will admit, I smiled and did a little dance of joy, as if Toto had pulled back the curtain to expose the bitter hatred and intolerance Jerry & Pat tried to pass off as morality. (For the non -gay, that's a "Wizard Of Oz" reference) _________________ Make My Feet Wanna Dance! Markydefad [ This Message was edited by: markydefad on 2002-01-17 17:23 ] |

| So Marky...does this mean you don't like Al Rantel It's understandable you find him attractive. I've seen his photos at the station's website. He use to bitch about not having any luck romantically so I guess that means his politics scare off other gay men. I've e-mailed him to disagree with him a few times and he e-mailed back each time. At least he's reachable. Perhaps you can e-mail him and show him the error of his ways. I know, sounds like I'm doing a Love Connection thing.

| So, Paul, do you listen to Al on a regular basis? Am I missing anything? Some people like to hear the opposition, so they can prepare their arguments...I get so pissed off that I can't listen. So I bought a CD player to bring to the office. I listen to music, or Bernie's radio show, or nothing. But talk radio doesn't appeal to me anymore. Now regarding Al...I guess I'm not an open-minded enough person to date someone who has the opposite opinions of mine on so many issues. At least, I give him credit for not being in the closet...but I think I remember hearing he was outed at his last gig in Florida. I've heard his fellow party members refer to him as "Alice Rantel"...(how nice to have your own party ridicule you). I'll never understand how James Carville & Mary Matalon (political polar opposites) can keep their marriage from crashing and burning. I mean, those are 2 loud & opinionated people. So I doubt if Al & Marky will ever be goin' to the chapel of love (but he could be my type, if he changed his politics). Fat chance.

| Hey Marky. I enjoy talk radio. When I'm not jammin my disco, I entertain myself with talk radio. I don't watch much television now. I am a liberal in the classic sense of the term so I quite frequently disagree with the Nazis that dominate AM talk. I guess i like to get my blood stirring so i listen to some of them. As for Al, I catch him every other night just about. I alternate between him and Phil Hendrie who provides comic relief. Sometimes I wonder if Al is as conservative as he implies. I say that because sometimes he and the callers are so over the top with their conservatism, I almost get the sense he's ridiculing the ideology. Anyway when it gets too annoying I put on "Dance With You" and the world seems right (no pun intended) again.

| Another one I don't want on my team ( or in my locker room, or anywhere in my stadium ) is CAMILLE PAGLIA!!!!! Her psychotic ramblings and scary tics and twitches drive me absolutely insane! Is she a neo-conservative? A neo-post-feminist? A neo-post-uber-lunatic? WHAT THE HELL IS SHE?......GRRR, grrrr......ok, the Goddess is calming down now.

| I've only just started reading the tail end of this gossip topic and I hear some of you talking about Queen and Freddy dying of AIDS. One of you mentioned he admitted to having AIDS a day before his death, yes that's definitely correct, I've just watched a Queen documentary on TV a couple of nights ago telling the story about Queen. It was a good documentary, I've learned some things about Queen that I haven't even heard of, one was that Freddy was bi-sexual in the early 70's and later decided to be gay. And also yes I heard that he did not tell many people his homosexuality and I also think it's a shame because to my point of view there is nothing wrong with being gay, lesbian or bisexual. But unfortunately many people especially back in the old days were very homophobic and were very cruel to people who weren't heterosexual. Anyhow he has to be one of the world's best rock singers and I reckon Queen records and CDs will continue to sell even a hundred years from now. There is also one thing I really admire about Freddy Mercury, and that's is that he never gives up and is persistent to continue to sing right to the very end. "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS..... WE KEEP ON FIGHTING TO THE END" |

| Hey Boodi, What was that snide little mention of Orrin Hatch being a "friend of Dorothy"? (For the non-gay, another "Wizard Of Oz" reference) Do tell what dirt you have on the Republican Senator from the Mormon/Osmond state of Utah!!! I agree with you about Camille Paglia. I can never understand where she is coming from or what the hell she is talking about. She seems to exist simply to be "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary" ...whatever side you're on, she takes the opposite viewpoint. Oh, and I guess you labeled Martha Stewart as a Diesel (not much of a surprise), but what about Queen Latifah? I've always gotten a Diesel Hip-hop Pearl Bailey vibe from her (not that there's anything wrong with that!!!)

In the movie "Set It Off", Queen Latifah played a hard-core lesbian in cohorts with Jada Pinkett and ViVeca Fox as bank robbers. Her portrayal of a "diesel" lesbian convinced many people that she is gay in real life. There were other rumors about her ogling and dancing with girls in several nightclubs. But she claimed that she wasn't suprised that the general public was going to label her as a lesbian ESPECIALLY after her role in "Set It Off". She said that she just "played that role to the hilt" and she's just a good actress. (P.S - Who was Jobriath)? *DISCO DELIGHT* |

| Kenneth Anger was the first to drop blind yummies about a MidWestern right-wing nabob who frequently ate at KFC. Turns out it was Orrin "Down The" Hatch who was constantly seen at DC clubs chatting up the stud-muffins. This has been going on at least since the early '80s.... and supposedly he's not the only right-winger who likes his chicken finger lickin' good. Yes, Queen Latifah is the fullback on my team, more of a man than Jerome "The Bus" Bettis, and about twice the size! She was a regular at Crazy Nannie's here in NYC. Other hip-hop sistahs cold chillin' on the Diesel Love Express: MC Lyte, Missy Elliot and Dionne Ferris (ex-Arrested Development).

| Well, it's sure getting boring around here... Let me toss out a few tidbits: I cracked up when I read in Liz Smith's column that the follically-challenged Kevin (who do I have to fuck to get a hit movie)Costner has now lost so much hair, he's considering shaving it all off, a' la' Brucey Willis. Kev said he's not a toup, plugs or chemical kinda guy, so he may just go Yul Brynner. Now in the who's hidin' in that ole closet dept.,let me throw 2 lesser but still well-known names--Esai (NYPD Blue/American Family) Morales & John (West Wing) Spencer. I've got friends who swear Esai was a cruisin' them out & about and I personally saw Mr. Spencer shoppin' at the Pavilions in WeHo with a younger boytoy friend. Now this was a few years ago and now John seems to have a live-in "Diane" (the all-purpose paid beard) who he says is a dear old friend and lives with him (?) Hmmm, when I asked another actor who toiled in regional theatre all over the USA with John, if John was "a friend of Dorothy", the response was "he's fucked every boy in regional theatre from coast to coast." I never would have suspected, but that's what I saw and what I heard. And lastly, check out the current US magazine for two pretty hilarious photos: Brigitte (ex-Mrs Stallone) Nielsen (Boodi's kinda gal) and her enormous boosuums just barely covered by an apalling dress. I was in an elevator once with Miss N. and lemme tell ya , she is an Amazon warrior. Last, check out the full-page photo of Miss Michael Jackson & Dame Elizabeth Taylor. Jacko has his arm around Liz revealing all the snaps on his black leather pants UNSNAPPED and his tighty whiteys revealed for all the world to see. Hey, I was relieved they weren't mesh & lace. _________________ Make My Feet Wanna Dance! Markydefad [ This Message was edited by: markydefad on 2002-01-24 13:12 ] |
