Anaheim Angels - 2002 World Series Champions

Aa you all probably know by now, the Anaheim Angels won the World Series last night. I'm so glad it finally*happened. I think that this is even more exciting that the Lakers winning the NBA championship because the Lakers are expected in win championships while the Angels aren't expected to win anything. At one time it seemed inconceivable that the Angels would ever win a championship, but here they are. All those years of frustration have finally come to an end (41 to be exact). There's no more talk of the Angels being a second-rate team, no more talk about them being losers, no more talk about a curse on them, and no more talk about them being in the shadow of the Los Angeles Dodgers (I'm also a Dodger fan). This is the moment that all Angel fans have been waiting for, and it's well worth the wait.

Is that the same team as the Los Angeles Angels?....I remember them as a child.....

If it hadn't been for the fact that my newspaper delivery was turned upside down this morning to the back page announcing their win, I would never have even known they were playing in the World Series.

No. There used to be a minor league team called the Los Angeles Angels, but they moved when the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1958.

Well, the major league Angels did play their first few seasons in Los Angeles, their first season being at the stadium the minor league Angels played in (1961). They moved to Anaheim in 1966, the year then-Anaheim Stadium opened (it's now called Edison Field). Maybe you were referring to the major league team from 1961-1965, as I believe they were called the Los Angeles Angels during that time. It's too bad that Gene Autry (the team's owner until 1996) didn't live to see them win the World Series, but I know he's up in heaven smiling right now.
