| "Miss Edie" or Miss Eydie" (I'm not sure if she was paying homage to Edie Adams or Eydie Gorme'!!!) was a most fetching and energetically volatile performer. She "rowed" her little heart out in the brief time "The Boat That I Row" was spinning. She was non-stop motion "crossing that ocean". I was most entertained.

| Sound like u guyz had the most enjoyable time! I've also eaten at Bagdad Cafe on market street! The waiter who served us was so cute & flirtatious; not unusual for the Castro I s'pose! BTW, is/was Lulu very big in the U.S.?

....One thing I would change would be your Diner scenario from the one in SATC to the one in Queer As Folk (more entertaining foursome, cuter butts, and their humor is more biting - in more ways than one!) [/quote] Yup, Danceman, the Castro has changed quite a bit, especially in the last few years. Elephant Walk is now Harveys, which had to be recently remodeled after a fire. Badlands is now all chrome, tv monitors and glitz as they removed the pool tables and added a dancefloor! Castro Street Station is now The Bar On Castro. Diesel just opened up at the former Bank Of America site on Market and Castro. However, the Castro Theater, Cliff's Hardware and the Sausage Factory still remain. The music scene tries to appeal to the younger crowds, with a slant towards the divas. However, as you move away from the Castro, you'll find the music more electic. For example, Mecca (where Marky and I saw Mamie Van Gorgeous and Miss Edie), which is more towards Market and Church will into more of the older jazzier & lounge grooves (since it's a bar and a restaurant). |

| Oh, my gawd, Marky!!! It's a good thing you didn't stay longer than one weekend--there is just not enough bandwidth (or whatever) at this site for a longer recap! But I must admit that I LOL'ed big time when I read your "Potemkin" description of your broken glasses. Perfect! As for our "Sex and the City" who's who, I guess I would also make a good Carrie since I'm a writer too, but I think it's safe to say that I did my best Samantha in SF as well. And Keefe: I wouldn't be upset about being Charlotte. She's a total sweetheart and so are you. To everyone else: Keefe is friendly and lively and interested in everything you have to say... what a great guy! And I think some of you might be surprised about the Real Marky, but I don't know if I should say anything that might affect the Marky Mystique. (Btw: Personally, I would MUCH rather be the gals on "Sex and the City" than those boring charicatures on "Queer aZZZ Folk.") As for Marky's comment about the Al Parker wannabe talking to "the wrong people" (your words), what I said (or meant) was that Faux Al could have done better than any of the rather average guys I saw him trying to pick up. And if you think that translates to "pick me, pick me," well, you're probably right, dammit. (I never did see him after that first weekend; maybe he was a visitor too.) And excuse me, Mr. Jaded! It was kind of a thrill to see a Famous San Francisco Author at the next table in a restaurant. It was even more fun to drink and dish with him for three hours one night at our favorite bar the following week. Not that I know anything about the next Tales miniseries, or the casts of the previous ones, or can drop names about who's gay, or who's a bitch, or who has a big dick, or who slept with Al Parker. Nope. Not me. I don't know nuthin'. Well, I have a mountain of mail, elctronic and otherwise, on my desk. More later...

I want to know what you found at Amoeba (if anything)??? Finally, as for Mr. Maupin, jaded we are not! It's simply that he's spotted everywhere (and I mean everywhere!). However, I, for one, want to know what you were able to pry out of him. Okay, gotta run! Carol Channing is autographing at Books Inc. tonight which is the bookstore under Aloha Records' former second store (now Muscle System). Now if you ran into her at the Edge...! [ This Message was edited by: keefelc on 2002-10-18 21:51 ] |

| Keefe, Don't hold your breath. I've asked for the gossip items several times and all that's been revealed is: 1) Ben Affleck is gay. 2) Scientologists have Tiny Tom Cruise on tape (doing what I don't exactly know--having gay sex, I presume). That's the sum total of gossip I've been been able to pry. This stuff I could have read, or DID read, in the tabloids. Ah, well. Never fear, I always share my dirt with y'all.

| Well Mark, I happy to say that Jeff came through with some great gossip for me from Mr. Maupin (Thanks Jeff!)! I'll be chatting with both of you more later but, now, I gotta run! |
