But the pic is from Brian de Palma's "Sisters", a critically acclaimed arthouse fave...:o

NRG, I actually read every review on that site ( I love sites that deal with exploitation films and grade B-to-grade Z films).
The reviewer's comments were funny. However, there were times when he seemed to know his stuff when it came to trivia, and then there were times when he missed the boat completely. For example, he knew about Craig T. Nelson's VC work in FLESH GORDON, but completely missed his work in SCREAM, BLACULA, SCREAM. These are the kind of things genre fans would find important, and the things you would see mentioned on Rotten Tomatoes, for example.
Our own Jussi K. has forgotten more film trivia than this guy ever knew!

Darling do not make me blush like that!

But, speaking of films, it's been quite a year for interesting things to see has it not, on screen as well as on dvd. Screen highlights:
Europe: SHEITAN, with Monica Bellucci's husband - like exploitation/arthouse films used to be during the 70's, really dangerous imagery bordering on unacceptable. Delirevance meets Boys in the Hood but totally unpredictable and very nasty.
Usa: HARD CANDY - ok, it sorta cops out and you'll never for a second believe she's 14 but still, that operation table scene...

dvds:
OSCENITA & RIVELAZIONE DI UN PSICIATRO SULL MONDO PERVERSO DI SESSO, two capolavoros from Renato Polselli, an Italian Ken Russell on stronger acid
GLI INVASORI - Mario Bava's lost masterpiece, very Pierre&Gilles

What have you liked, let's hear

My pick for genre-shifting exploitation film of all time: the uncut Italian version of TO BE TWENTY with Gloria Guida and Lili Carati (not the watered-down American version). What begins as typical 70s softcore fluff becomes...something else entirely, I don't want to spoil it. Just see it!!!

Gloria Guida made quite a career in Italian exploitation, mostly in cheesy comedies such as Infirmiera Di Notte in which she performed a disco song as well. Lilli Carati became a heroin addict around the time TO BE TWENTY was made and degenerated into substandard h/c porno fare, before fading into obscurity somewhere in grim urban wasteland behind the Roma Stazione Termini. T.B.T is sure no comedy - the ending sequence has to be as you imply one of the most harrowing ever, right up/down there with the cauterization with a burning log outrage seen in COTO DE CAZA / LAW OF THE HUNT. Strong stuff, bothy fuilms. Luckily Fernando De Leo, director of T.B.T was posthumously celebrated 2 years ago during the Venice film fest, by a jury including Quentin Tarantino.

Weird stuff Jussi but it doesn't compete with this one. It scares me, upsets my stomach and gives me nightmares during 1 month. The horror, the horror :o
