DiscoMan: Is that an actual photo of the St. Valentine's Day masacree victims?

I have to agree with Videoskooter here. As if Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Halloween aren't enough, St. Valentine's Day is up there wanting your stash of cash, too.

In the Q household, we hold little truck with such unabashed commercialism.

Yes.
That's Bugs Moran's North Side gang laying on the floor of their N. Clark St. HQ in Chicago - St. Valentines Day, 1929.

well, I just hated this day when I was in school because all the popular girls got bunches of flowers from anonymous suitors... And I never got anything! It was like an episode of Beverly Hills 90120, and I was... eh, Andrea Zuckerman!

Yeah, that's right I got one once and it was from a girl! That was kinda cool but I really wanted a flower from the guy who looked like Edward Furlong. :-/
Nowadays me and my boyfriend celebrate it, but we don't buy each other creepy teddy bears with hearts on them. like this year I wanted a paul Auster novel and my boyfriend will get a casserole!
And we'll have something nice for dinner. Sweden's cultural traditions are rather "americanized", like Valentine's day and Halloween. When I was a kid, in the 80's, we've never heard Valentine.

it most certainly is a good casserole, Videoskooter! He does cook a lot (more than I do :) )

Swedish erotica, involving casseroles? Never heard of it! The films usually contains skiing, folk music, top less blond girls and "frisky" older men. And their angry, jelaous fat wives.
I am so sad that Sweden is famous for this!!! But, then again, I am no fan of Ingmar Bergman either...

I love ABBA! Have for more'n 30 years. The best thing to ever come out of Sweden. My home town had a huge Swedish immigrant population. Pretty morose people too...until they heard ABBA! ABBA made 'em smile.

Why, you should be proud! Okay, there's Alcazar but they can't compete with the characters seen in the 1970's films by Lasse Braun, skiing and apres-skiing and all, or Cristina Lindberg in "Thriller - a Cruel Picture" - now That's Entertainment! She suffers a traumatic experience, becomes totally mute, steps into a car driven by a man in a poloneck sweater and sideburns, gets abducted into a brothel decorated with orange carpeting, recieves a lesbian client, has one of her eyes graphically removed with a scalpel, escapes, and makes a deadly return wearing color-coded eyepads. She knows karate, drives very fast and blasts the sleazebags away with a shotgun! This wonderful film is available on dvd, way better than Bergman.

I think Sweden is very famous for August Strindberg and The Nobel Prize too. :-)
And I actually hate the erotica films from the 70's. It may be exotic for you, I can understand that. But it's so f***ing lousy and ugly.
In Sweden we have the tradition of "buskis". It means "under the belt comedy". When other countries had great acts like Monty Python, SNL, Jacques Tati and Marx Brothers, Sweden had this burlesque erotic comedy thing. Including top less girls, old men with long beard, farting, burping, drinking lots of beer and joking about ugly women.
It has been popular for ages. All those movies were low budget and are looked upon as "cult movies" but I dunno. It's boring!
Benny Hill set in Swedish rural environement. Often with a tad of racism too, like a "mad gypsy woman".
Perhaps all countries have this tradition?
